Today, which is my wife's birthday, three deer came to the center of campus at the school where both my wife and I work. It is a parochial secondary co-ed boarding school and my wife is the girls dean and I teach at the school. The above picture of the 3 deer was taken at 8:30 am, right outside our bedroom window. Since the students left yesterday for spring break the campus is totally empty and quiet. The tree they are standin under contains some kind of fruit about the size of cherries but they look more like large cranberries. Anyway, there they were enjoying the food and we were enjoying them. Isn't God great to send such a nice gift on my wife's birthday. Have you felt sometimes that God has given you a gift?

Congratulatios for starting such an inspiring discussion. I believe my life itself is the greatest gift from God. I have faced a lot of hard times and loss in life, but have been able to overcome it all with the help of the small yet beautiful things and ideas that surround us. I love my work, like to interact with people and to reflect on life, nature, God, beauty....everything under the sun. And is not mylot a wonderful gift of the age, where we all meet and interact, inspire and share?

Dear friend, I am so happy to read this posting. I too believe in the power of little things around us to give a new perspective to life. Your thoughts exude a lot of positive energy that I am slowly coming to contact in my life. It may a take a long time, but I guess it is really worth it to listen to the song of nature and be a part of it. To me, the fact that I have discovered a kindred spirit in you today can be simply a gift given by God. I live in the countryside where I am so far removed from the din and bustle of city life. I find no problem getting back to the city-mode life whenever necessary, but I like it so much here that I would spend the major part of my life here, if possible. I can listen to the songs of the birds in the morning, and throughout the day, come across rabbits moving hurriedly across my backyard, watch squirrels training their babies, and be surrounded by numerous plants, with and without flowers. It is heaven...Life is simply a great gift.

Yes, this was a beautiful gift from God to your wife. I feel that each and every day I wake up in the morning God has given me a special gift. The gift of life! I know I wouldn't be here if not for Him for more reasons than one.
Tell your wife HAPPY BIRTHDAY from Faith :)

That's awesome! I have often felt that God uses wildlife to bless me. I am a huge animal lover (have to be, I work for a rescue group!) and any time I'm just having a rotten day, something happens to make me smile. One day it was a cottontail rabbit hopping and playing outside my window, I had a nest of red-tailed hawks in a tree only inches from the window in my former office, I got to see a coyote strolling down the sidewalk as if he owned the place, and once I even got to see a bald eagle swoop down out of the trees. Little moments like this just break me out of my grumpiness and fill me with wonder at the marvelous creation that's all around us. I really think that every one of them are gifts from God to remind me that He's still here and He still loves me, no matter what circumstances may occur around me.

I so agree with you and when this happened on my wife's birthday we both knew that it was a gift from God for her. It was totally awesome to know that God wanted to send something to make her day extra special. We live in a rural area and I always enjoy seeing rabbits and squirrels and birds outside our windows.

My husband and I sometimes travel the backroads. We live in a small city so it is not hard to find backroads. Anyway it was getting towards dark and the sun was just starting to set and my husband pulled the car to the side of the road and pointed out to me three dears. One had its head up and watching. The other two had their heads down and were nibbling. As the sunset behind them it was a site to behold. God's perfect picture. I felt like God had given me a gift to be able to see his beautiful creatures enjoying his world.
