sooo often when I am going to a scary, r rated movie I see people with their young children in there! The children are old enough to understand everythign that happens but WAY to young to be in there. When I went to Jeppers Creepers two there was a man with a couple of his small children in the theater. Unsuprisingly he had to leave a few mins after the movie started because it as too scary for the children. And just recebtly, when I went to 300 there was a lady that had about 6 small children with her. I was shocked. i couldnt imagine why anyone would bring their children to movies like these. And it cant be about paying for a babysitter b/c they still hav to pay for so many extra tickets. I just think it is insane that people would make their children watch something so horrifying. What are your views on this?

I don't like scary or violent movies for myself. So I wouldn't bring a kid to see them. Maybe James Bond kind of movies would be ok I think, some story, mild sexuality, not about the violence or too graphic. I think often the parents had a bad childhood, actual violence or abuse and so they worry too about what the kids see since it upsets THEM. To a kid who wasn't abused with an adult there to talk about it with, probly most things are not traumatic.

I'm not worried so much which movies like James Bond are anything, children like a lot of high speed action and thrills and thats ok. But all the movies I see parents bringing their children too are really graphic and totally inappropriate for kids.

I agree with you, very strongly. There is much wrong with the world and our society, and exposing our children to adult content is surely one of them.

I share your concern. I wonder if people realize that even 2 and 3 year olds retain knowledge from what they see, and often act out because of it. Another concern is children who ACT in those kind of movies. Like Dakota Fanning, who was recently in a movie where she was raped on screen!? She is 12 years old! What does a normal child think when they see young people their age on screen doing and having bad things happen to them? I used to resent my parents only letting me see G movies until I was 12, but now I appreciate it. It may have been strict, but my innocent mind wasn't compromised by what I saw on the TV and movies.

actaully i had the same issue about young children who act in scary movies like that and was talking to my dad about it. We had just seen a movie about zombie children and I asked him why parents would want their children to have to do nasty scary things like that for movies. And he said its not bad for the children because there are tons of other people around and lights and it just isnt scary for them...im still not sure lol Btw...I

Children are a lot smarter than they used to be. I think some parents don't know how to parent in letting young children go to these things, but children are often getting information about worldly events from the streets.

Honestly I do believe that kids do know alot now days then back when I was growing up but u still shouldn't expose them so certain things too early because kids feed into what they see on television and may one day try to act out what they see and then its too late. You just have to think sometimes before u act because children are very curious and will try anything.
