What does the word "family" mean to you? Does it mean those you hold close, or your close group of friends, or people who are actually related to you.
I mean I know you can't pick who you are related to, but I know you can pick who you consider "family".
My life - my mother used to give me so much heck because I valued my friendships more so than my relationships with my family. I mean why wouldn't I? My friends never judged me, they liked me for who I am, they didn't try to change me or push me away.
So who do you think is your family.

Well i think family is family and no one could change that. It depends upon you if you don't consider your family as your family but no matter how you change the world, they're still there for you. Even me, I have done many mistakes in life but they still accept me and forgave me..

Yeah but thats the thing, they don't accept things I have done, they don't forgive me and they mostly judge. Sure they have helped me in the past but now its like they only talk to me when they feel like it.
Or im being brushed aside because I have kids...

I really don't know. I think I'm in the same boat as you. I was never close to my siblings because of the age gap. I didn't really grow up with them, never had anything in common with them. I try to be close to them now but they do judge me and criticize me, something my father never did.
My husband and kids are my family. I don't even consider his family my family. We are so different. They welcome me when we visit but I don't feel a part of it either because of the difference in culture.
Friends are a different kind of family. So are the members of my church. I consider them family too. It's all a matter of perspective and where you feel most welcome and most loved. I feel more loved by my writing group friends and church members, and my kids of course.

A family is place where you can have peace of mind. Any people who can accept you for who you are. But are also there to correct you when you are doing something wrong. They are those whose concern are genuine. In times of trouble they will never leave you. Real family is where you have both your heart and respect.

Actually family means a lot to me.It is my energy source of my life.I can't imagine if being without my family, how can my life is going on.Because we are family,we can enjoy tv together,we can travel together,we can eat dinner together.
May be you have little chance to stay without your family,so you can never realize how important it means to you.Your parents may continually judge you by all your deeds which makes you unconfortable and bothering. In fact, all these mean they care for you as they love you and want you can be better. When this case came to me,sometimes i was angry and disappointed and i tried to argue for myself. But later on when i became calm down,i could find what my parents said was correct.
Love your parents,treasure your family!
Although you have a lot of friends but family is the most important part of your whole life~~~
