I used to live 5 hrs from Chicago. It's a nice city, but I live 5 hrs from NY City now and I like it a lot better. I guess it's just more exciting. Maybe it's just something new. I can say it's a pain in the butt to drive into though.

I was born and raised in the big apple. Hands down I say New York City. Right now I live about 90 miles away from Chicago and I have visited, and it is not a bad city it has lots of things to offer. However, New York City wins by a mile. I live closer to chicago, but I visit New York more than I do Chicago. New York is the biggest city of the United States and in my opinion the best city not only in the US but in the whole world.
P.S. I agree it is a pain to drive through it, but public transportation is great!

My husband and I have been there 2 times since moving here. We stopped going to Chicago just to hang out. Only if there was a concert. It's nice to live near a big city for that reason also. Public transportation is great. Too bad there isn't transportation before the Lincoln tunnel! Or is there?

There should be transportation available before the lincoln tunnel. There are a ton of buses that go through there both after and before the lincoln tunnel. You just have to find the right one that is going to the destination you want in the city.
