being from ohio i think we dont have to many strange ways to say what we mean. a few years back i went to live in vermont,my husbands home land and it took me some days to catch on to there way of saying things
driveway----- dooryard (VERMONT)
jeep laredo-----rig (VERMONT) i always thought a rig was a 18 wheeler lol
wasnt it-- wernt it(VERMONT)
basement--- down celler(VERMONT)
downtown -----overstreet(VERMONT)
im going to take my aunt to the dr.--- im gonna bring my aunt to the dr(VERMONT)
i am in no way makeing fun i just had a very hard time adjusting to these words but somethings do stick, when my kids call today i say oh sorry i was down celler . any strange sayings where you are from?

I am from Ohio I am now in Missouri so I understand the words that differ here if you ask where the bathroom is don't be surprised to hear outside LOL as they still have out houses here what they call rivers we called creeks what they call lakes here we called ponds there so the change can be quite funny in MO. if you stop to take a squat the snakes could be real friendly here.LOL the culture from one state to another is hard enough and they think I want to try another country.

I live in Ohio and you are right, although some people may think our sayings are strange. But by sister-in-law is from North Carolina. She would ask me to carry her to the store. My response was no, you're to heavy but I will take you there in my car. She also told me something was in my turtle one time. I said I don't even have a turtle. Turns out that the turtle is the trunk of your car. Go figure.

oh I like that a turtle I will have to pull that on some friends here in MO. and see what the reaction is I grew up in New Paris,Ohio just across the state line of Indiana,and went to National trial high school. I have seen pictures of it and it has changed haven't been back there in 15 years or so.I can imagine the terms there now LOL.
