I need some help.I consider myself a pretty good cook, but for some reason when it comes to making spaghetti sauce,I can't make it stand it.Sometimes i will add peppers or onions but I need something that will make people sit and say "Hey ,this is the best"!

I am assuming that you are already using all the nessesary spices that make it taste like spaghetti sauce, and adding the fresh onions, mushrooms, fresh garlic, and peppers is a definite plus. One thing that I have learned that will bring all the flavor out in those ingredients is just a pinch of sugar.Try it,it is fantastico;)

Hi! HuggieBear! That is such a neat idea! I have some hot italian turkey sausage and I bet that would be real good with some taco seasoning -add some kraft mexican style cheese and yummy! Thanks!

this is the best: not Italian, best though: from trial and error:
olive oil in a wok
half pound to one pound of ground beef , lean from happy cows
10 cloves of garlic
brown that a little, don't burn the garlic
add spices, a chopped onion, mushrooms maybe, a pepper maybe, black pepper, oregano, basil, a little paprika, cayenne (just a pinch)
then 1 can of Muir Glen crushed tomatoes (the best)
cook it slowly for 30 minutes to 90 minutes, different depending on the time due to Malliard reaction
Its sooooooooooooooooo good, I made that last night.

Thank you so much! that receipe sounds so yummy and I will definately try to make that! I don't think that 10 cloves will be enough.Make it more like 20 and BAM! I don't think we have Muir Glen tomatoes but I will try anyway.

Try adding a bit of good balsalmic vinegar. It makes it REALLY good.

You asked the right question to the right gal. I love this one, as it was handed down generations, starting in Jordan.
Just take the canned tomatoe sause ( 2 small) with 1/2 to 1 stick of butter and melt. Add garlic powder for taste, and add 12 to 24 slices of American cheese. It is outstanding. If you like cheesy, go with more than 12 slices. Taste it as it's all melted, and see what you need more off. You will love this forever. Don't forget to rate us, and give "best response" if you are happy. Bless you dear, M&M

I would just make it this way first. Then try your way. No onions, but maybe on fresh grated garlic and a litte grated gr. pepper would be fine. The sause is good, but needs a little garlic. It is really good, and please let me know what you think and tried. Thank you for the best response dear.

I like chopped up mushrooms, meatballs, a bit of black pepper, and some cheese in my spaghetti sauce.
But then again, I'm also one of those people who is perfectly happy to eat spaghetti noodles with plain tomato sauce on top.

Howdy Jersey :))) Have you ever tired Emerils spices? He has a line of Essences that include Italian, Asian, regular essence, and Cajun. I adore them all, and they add a bit of bite. I swear by them.

Howdy, angel! I have heard of Emeril's spices but have never used them.It would be a tough choice between the Italian and Cajun. Yummy!

I buy cheap jarred spaghetti sauce and fix it up myself. I add garlic & herb seasoning, basil, oregano, couple of bay leaves and a bunch of brown sugar. The sugar cuts the tartness of the tomatoes. Because of the other spices, it doesn't come out to be super sweet, but has a really nice flavor. I can't stand commercial sauces by themselves. Far too "tomatoey" if that's a word.

Garlic, basil, oregeno or italian seasonings. My mom would put in meat balls & cook the sauce with them for 3 hrs so they would be cooked (no, she didn't brown them first) that let the sauce absorb into the meat balls. Mushrooms, some people like olives - I don't - I've seen chicken but that doesn't appeal to me. I like a nice vegan spaghetti sauce, since I have to rotate my meats.

Hi,ElicBxn! Thanks for your input! I love garlic so much . I have had chicken in spaghetti sauce but I wasn't too impressed with it. I prefer just hamburger or sausage.

if u want it a little spicy try adding either a jalepono pepper or some chili powder, garlic will help too. U can also try a little tabasco but a little goes a long way
happy cooking

I saute some chopped up bacon, reserving the bacon fat;remove bacon from pan, and add 1/2 cup chopped onion, 1 grated carrot, 2 cloves of minced garlic, 1 diced, roasted red bell pepper to the pan, and saute until vegetables are tender. Add 1 tablespoon sugar, 2 tsp. salt, 1 tsp oregano, 1/2 tsp dried basil, 1/4 tsp black pepper 1 large can ( 28 to 36 oz.)plum italian plum tomatoes, 1 can tomato paste. I use a braun hand held blender to blend this all until it's very smooth. Then I put it into a pot, adding the bacon and also some italian sausage that I've browned in the oven for about 20 min. and simmer it for an hour or so. Even the picky ones in my family love this sauce. It's easy to adjust the seasonings and amounts to your liking. You may want to add a little water if it becomes too thick. I sometimes do this in the crockpot after I've got it all together with the meat.
