The garage sale at my apartments is tomorrow. With your help, I was able to get everything sorted & priced since so many of you suggested it was better to do so. Whew! What a chore that has been! Hopefully tomorrow will pay off for all the effort. :)
I have one more thing I would like to have your imput about before it gets going tomorrow morning at 7am.
Would you put your business card out at a garage sale? I just created a simple one for use when I'm out but wondered if it might do any good at the garage sale too.
Would you pick up a business card at a garage sale?

Yes, I would put my business card out at your garage sale, why not? After all, it's just something else you are "selling" at your garage sale! Someone could just be looking for what you are offering, and if it's displayed, people will either comment or not. You could pick up potential customers. I would use every means possible to display my business cards.
Good luck with the garage sale tomorrow! Hope you do well after all the effort you've put into it.

i certainly would. i would put my business card out at my own garage sales as well. busniess is all about networking and i think that when an opportunity for networking presents itself, we should make full use of it.

Glad I'm not the only one that sees it as another opportunity to network. Thanks for the positive reinforcement. :)

I wish I knew what type of business you ran, but I think that in most cases it would be appropriate to put them out. Say if you were a psychic reader or something, than maybe it wouldn't be appropriate. I especially think that it would be appropriate to put your business card out if you're selling something to do with your business- Eg if you do crafts and have one of your projects for sale, that would make sense. Good luck with your garage sale!

Just part time income sites I've referenced on a webpage. I just uploaded the card but I think it's too blurry to read. It came out sooo much better on the actual cards.

If I was attending a garage sale and saw a business card that I thought would be of assistance to me sometime I would of course take it!!!! My only advice would be that sometimes there are some shifty characters that pass by and I would be sure that not too much information about me was available ...just for safety sake!!! but keep them close to you maybe and then you can sort of see who is taking them and you can also "talk them up"...if you see a potential client!!! Good luck...garage sales are lots of work...but can be lots of fun too!!!!!

Put some out to be picked up and also give some to everyone that makes a purchase, put a poster or something up near your cards with info about your business on, have some flyers that you can give out as well.

Yes, I would pick up a business card at a yard sale. I am continually scouting for anything that fits what I want to do (making legitimate money online). Being also appreciative of design, I might just pick it up for the design, as well, and would put it together with all my business cards and every time I ran across my collection of business cards I would run across it.

So if Free Money was the first thing you saw on the card, it would catch your interest enough to pick one up? Cool! I hope it'll work, I printed 80 business cards & I still have a small stack of flyers. I may just put both out. At least the Biz cards might get me a few mylot refs as well. :D

Good luck with your sale. I say go for it and put your cards out. Depending on what service you are offering someone might pick it up.
Heck if it were something I needed I would pick it up.

Yes...I would say do it. I would take a business card if it was for something I was interested in...I don't know what your business is but I think that is a really good idea!

It's easy to make business cards for what ever you want, so I change mine depending on what I'm promoting. I just saw this as an opportunity to get some referrals for my free online earning sites (like mylot) by making the new cards. Glad to know you'd approve lol :)

Well I would say that I would be carefull about puting a card out at a garage sale. Everyone that comes there now has your address, phone number and knows a little about where you live. Generally I try to be careful about stuff like that.

LOL, I only referenced a website, but didn't put all my personal details on it. While they might know where I live now, they don't know the exact details, you know? ;D

You asked if I would put out a business card at a garage sale and I gave you an honest answer according to the limited information I had. Usually business cards have name, addresses and phone numbers on them. You didn't say what information you would have on the card. There are a lot of crazy people in the world today I wouldn't want to get any of that information accidently. Didn't mean to offend you with my answer.

LOL, No I only told one other member how lousy it went. I had to go out of town the next day so I got busy wrapping up as much as I could before losing computer access for a week.
I had a total of 2 sales for a whopping $5.50 roflol
Now is that depressing or what? Glad I didn't intend to pay for my anniversary trip with my sales. It was an apartment garage sale so we didn't have much traffic so I guess it was better than nothing, but I still have to deal with the mess I left behind a week ago and only have til the end of the month to finish getting my storage unit switched out. fun, fun ;D

Tough one. It would depend on what you are promoting on the card.
If you do taxes... it is a perfect opportunity to get some new clients.
Personally I wouldn't. I design flower beds & would assume that someone at a garage sale wouldn't be able to afford me or would want it to be cheap. Some people don't realize how much it costs to pay 4 guys to work. 1/3 of the costs goes to taxes & workman's comp.
I will not do a cheap flower bed. I will build it in stages of months or years. But if I can't be proud to show a photo of the job then I can't do it. My 1st flower bed is the photo in my profile. The flower bed it worth about 1/4 of the house. LOL. It is my house so I can make fun of it.
If they want something cheap, they can get the other company that doesn't care & just wants money to do it. Most of my clients call & say "I hired this company & I need you to fix this." LOL.

That's quite lovely & you should be proud of it and the job you do. I agree, you might not do well with your business card at a garage sale. Mine isn't for anything like this though. Just some free opportunities to make some extra money online. :)

Not much traffic at the garage sale this morning, but I'm still glad I made the cards. I've gotten several useful suggestions in this discussion so I'll be able to use them. :)
I tried a graduated look like yours when I did a backyard corner garden. Didn't turn out nearly as nice as yours! I stick to cactus & succulents now. My thumb isn't nearly so brown with them lol. You must know alot about soil content & stuff to know what does well & where. :)

I'm glad you see why it wouldn't work for me. I would probably be wasting my time talking to them regarding getting work out of them.
But you should definitely go for it. Especially with deal shoppers. You might do well.

I think it's a great idea to put your personal business card out at your garage sale. If it's something they're interested in, they can take one, if not, then they don't have to. It gives them the freedom to choose.
