Why do bad things happen to good people?

Maybe I can shed a little light on this from a religious perspective. Everyone is born with original sin plus we are all sinners and as a result we have to make up for all our sins. Even when a person appears to us to be a good person, they may still struggle with sins that we don't see. So although they may be good people overall, almost all people will still have sins, though these might be relatively minor. And they still will have to make up for these. So the question is.... how about those who truly lead holy lives yet seem to suffer disproportionately despite their holiness? God permits these individuals to suffer despite their holiness because doing so allows them to gain merits that they will enjoy eternally in the afterlife.

I always think life is not fair. But even if I strongly believe in that, I just live life. That's why I was born. People are born to live life and to endure the hardships that naturally comes with life. But about religion.... I always wonder if there really is a God up there. Is He constantly watching over us? Or was religion "invented" to help explain for mysterious events that have taken place? No one will ever know.

"Don't sleep until you're guilty, cuz sinners ALL ARE WE" Maybe the GOOD people WEREN'T always good. Have you ever thought of that notion? What I have learend from this ugly school of life - and I learn form experience and therefore MUCH worse- what might be good to you will appear bad to others. You might be a good person with a great personality, maybe amongst your friends and your social circle, but not by the standards of others outside of it. There are NO good people in life. And at one point or another, they have done something bad and what goes around comes around. That's life.
