I'm trying to figure out how to quit and quit for good. I've tried the literature, the patches, the gums, the lozenges, and even those incredibly expensive little pills that are supposed to make it go away in 7 days. Fact is, I kept smoking. Now I've decided that I'm done for good and fact is, cravings are the evil monster who chases me in my dreams.
Some of the things I've done with some success so far is:
When a craving hits, close your eyes and take several deep breaths as if you were smoking anyways. Imagine putting the cigarette out. Wait five minutes. If craving persists or gets stronger, try changing activities, step outside for a breath of fresh air, or when I'm at work, taking that needed run to the fax machine.
Anything to distract me but not change my lifestyle.
What do you do?

Smoking is really a addiction and not easy to quit all of sudden. But good thing is there are many rehabilition center for helping to get rid of these habits. Try them and make a great change in your life.

A good thing to remember is that cravings only last 3 minutes and if you can last that long it's gone. I use the nicotine patches, it did work for me I gave p for about 4 months but started again and now I'm starting to quit again. I'm doing my singing grades so it's important to stop smoking to help with that I just keep that in mind.
