I have been having very vivid nightmares for a week or two now. I do not have bad thoughts when I go to sleep, and I generally do not have bad thoughts or fears during a normal day. Even though I am sleeping I am not getting any rest.. It is starting to affect how I interact with my children and the work I do. The nightmares always involve protecting someone or losing some one. I will admit a couple of them have been about being violated . I don't know where this is coming from as I don't even watch television....HELP!!!!!

wow. i have that problem before. from my experience, bad dreams comes from stress, thinking about problems and little things that comes in our mind unconciously. all that i can advice is take time to have a proper sleeping schedule. create a hobby so you can distract bad thoughts. Do stretching before you sleep. and of course the best exercise of all: Pray. It works! try it.

thank you ..I did call the doctor and she told me the same thing three days ago, unfortunately with no results yet. I had not thought of prayer, it is a very good suggestion though , I pray about everything else in the world, I think it will be my best hope .. thank you

I Sure can image what you are speaking of. I had this problem as well going back about a year ago ....My dreams were about my brother and dad killing my mom. It felt so real it really bothered me to no end. I had had these dreams for about a week in total and couldnt understand why on earth I would even have such a dream! Anyhow 6 months later I had witnessed ONCE my brother punching my mom over a commet she had made, For me I feel as if I was feeling something inside of me (not sure what) and for some stange reason was coming out in my dreams, It felt as if all these puzzle pieces were coming together and I have finally come to the truth. Dreams can say so much and have different meanings of course for we are all different and live different lives, I know my aunt said that when she dreamed of someone dying there would always be a call someone was pregnant. I hope that in your case these dreams die down if you need anyone to talk to im here for you! Stacy

I have had this problem. At times, I exhausted myself during the day so I would sleep through the night. This did work, but I was so tired during the day, that is wasn't worth it. I hope by now your nightmares have gone away. If they don't, you might consider a counselor. There is nothing wrong with you, but they can help tremendously in finding the root of the problem and helping the patient make the problem disappear. And if that is not a good solution, often a sleeping aid can make you go into such a sleep that you don't even remember your dreams or they do not get that intense. If after a while you go off the aid, you might find your nightmares have passed. But, you have already suggested what I often do myself - pray, pray, pray! : )
