Just how do you go about eating a crawdad? do you crack the shell open and eat the whole thing? do you snap off the tail and suck out that meat only? They look appetizing when I see the piles of them heaped across a picnic table, and MESSY! what do they taste like? Back home we had clam bakes, it was pretty much the same idea as a crawdad crowd gathering to eat crawdads - but what do you call the event? is it a crawdad bake or boil?

Well, Ive been eating Crawfish forever (Native New Orleanian). I can definetly say that there is no certain technique. There are, however, 2 main goals. 1) suck da head 2) eat da meat. The best way to do this, is to do whatever works for you. As for me I twist the head off and suck the juices (gud flavor, if thier boiled right). As for the tail, I just peel off a bit of the shell until some of the meat is exposed, then pinch the bottom of the tail to release the meat, and suck it out, or bite. Have fun, youll love it I know. Its called a crawfish Boil or feast, They taste like most boiled seafood, its bolied in crab boil seasoning. Some people add lemons or garlic. I like it all. P.S. if they have corn, potatoes or sausage in the boil, go for it!!

Thank you for the voice of experience. The sucking of the head may be for seasoned aficionados, hehe, but I sure am up to trying the tails. And, anything boiled with corn, potato, and sausage HAS to be good! thanks again!
