How many folks out there actually believe that all the "syndromes", "disorders", "conditions", etc., which we hear about mostly through advertisements for pharmaceutical products, are REAL?
I often wonder where many of these originate. Oh, I believe some are real enough, but somehow I can't quite fathom they're all legitimate. Rather, it seems we just hear about some of them when there 'just happens to be' a new line of drugs to treat them.
What do YOU think?

I can't say I'm necessarily a 'healthy' person! I've made some 'dumb' choices and likely am already "ill" from some of them. And, I don't mean to say that ALL 'syndromes', 'disorders', 'conditions' are 'artificial'. Not at all! Many are very real indeed...and there are truly wonderful medicines and treatments for some of those.
My point is really a commentary on how transparent and 'ill-motivated' (IMO) the pharmaceutical company marketing strategies have become. I.E., many of the "syndromes", etc. that we hear spoken of today were not even in our vocabulary even just a few years ago. Not that some people may not exhibit "symptoms" that need "relief", but instead of researching for "cures" so these "symptoms" would not return, the pharmaceuticals concentrate on treating the 'symptoms'...over, and over, and over, and over again. Likewise, when it comes to "side-effects" of a given medication. The pharmaceuticals are quick to come up with another medication which will alleviate those! And why not? It's far more 'lucrative' for their business, that's for sure!
Thanks for the post.

I dont think its a matter of whether or not they are real....I think its a matter of the doctors misdiagnosing OR being too quick to give you pills rather than work on the actual issue in combination with the pills...I have numerous mental disorders that are all very real..I've had them for yrs and yrs but have only been medicated for the past 3...I have neices who have things like ADD, ADHD and Tourettes...these are also very real...The problem is IMO that the doctors and pharmaceudical companies take advantage of the ppl who suffer from certain syndromes, disorders and conditions...

Right you are, again!
I often wonder why the medical and insurance industries don't want to really "cure" illnesses. It's becoming more and more clear as I look at how well the "money-machine" works for them.
How sad that it's at the expense of an "uninformed", "lied-to" public.
Thanks again for your post & comments.

I prefer to treat myself with something natural. I dont like to take pills. Before 200 years there werent pills. What do you think people did. They just used a natural medicine. I will use pills only if it is something really bad.
