The others have already explained that the star is your myLot reputation and that you must reach 100 before recieving one. The star rating is 1-10. You can scroll over a star for the percentage too.
Your reputation (star) will reflect your fellow myLotter's opinion of you as a user. It will rise with quality responses, as other users rate you positively (+). It can also fall according to ratings...meaning if someone rates your post as negative (-), your number will drop.
I've been lucky enough to keep a 10 since they added the reputation star but my highest percentage has been 98%. I have seen users with a 100% 10 star!

the stars are just for mylot users who have made more than 100 posts. They display the reputation of that mylot user amongst the rest of the community, so keep on posting and you will have a star soon enough

The stars are the member's reputation rating. The higher, the better. You will also get a reputation star, but not until you have a rating of 100 (the number in the brackets - yours is currently at 46). So just keep posting, and when you hit 100, you too will get a star!
Best of luck!
