it is often said that india is a country which does no discrimination on the basis of any of the caste, creed or religion, it might seem good to look at but the fact is something else. we can see many persons having the mentality of thinking themselves superior to other but yet we say that it is secular state! is it the reality or just a false notion that it is?

There is always misinterpretation about caste system. 1.Initially caste was based on profession.1000s of years back children found it easy to follow their fathers profession. Even now politicians, Dr.s's kids want to follow their fathers profession. 2.Later caste was determined by birth. 3.There is nothing wrong if there are many castes or traditions but the problem comes only if people think their caste is superior to others. 4.More problem arises when we have a govt which supports certain castes. Everyone have their own castes and traditions. There is nothing wrong in following the traditions of your caste, or for wanting to marry a person of your caste. The only caveat is that you should not consider a person of another caste inferior. For example, in Chennai, Iyers (brahmins) are treated as though they are people who should not be respected by non-iyers these days. They are treated as autocrats because of caste misintepretations done years ago. This kind of discrimination is unfair. Similarly, villages don't allow people of certain castes to do certain activities and the like. This kind of discrimination should not be allowed. But people should be allowed to follow the traditions of their caste, and basically not have inteference from outside forces. Its only that the government and social institutions of any sort which should refrain from making any sort of judgement or decision on the basis of caste. People, however, should not be stopped from following the traditions of their caste in any manner; neither should they be stopped, if for example, they choose to marry a person of their caste.
