PC keeps slowing down........

Happened about 4 times in the last 3 days.
First time I was downloading, second time the same, third time had just left the pc for a few minutes and just now, had just finished burning a disc.
What happens is this:
Any internet access ceases. Windows XP is still up and running yet when you try and move the mouse pointer, it vanishes for a few secs then reappears somewhere else and so on. You can't click on anything or use the keyboard etc even if you do manage to get somewhere helpful and you have to switch off the pc at the mains.
Any ideas short of a full re-install?

it should be a antivirus install a good antivirus in your pc and clear your cookies i prefer avg antivirus

There are few issues you should look upon,
When did u last scan your computer for virus,
How many days its been since u cleared the temporry internet files and cache,
Might be u might have installed Windows XP long back and u need to instal it freshly (MAY BE).
Check if u Page Filing is enough and configured well.
May i know your computer configuration before i suggest you something.

I don't think it is mylot.
I think it is your server.
I switched to Firefox and they are just great.
I will never use anyone else.. They are free. You should try them.

Maybe your harddrive disk space is fully loaded and you really have to remove/ uninstall some application on your computer, so that youll have more space in ur hard drive and it will run faster compare on the other day!
