I will look for functionality, I feel funtionality is more important than style or trend. The funtionality that I am looking for is the ability to sync with Microsoft Outlook, I want to have my calendar, Tasks list and contact list updated on the the mobile phone, so that I only need to bring one gradget along with me all the time, rather than having a mobile and a PDA.
As for voice quality, as long as it is not very bad, that should not be a major concern for me, Camera is a good to have functionality, only when you need it badly, example, involved in an car accident that you want to capture the incident to support your claim against the other car owner.

I look for a cheap phone that is easy to use for calls and sms. It must feel good in my hand. I think most phones are of good enough quality for me. i really do not use mine much - and only for calls and sms, mms. I play an occational game on it, but just pairs or someything simple like that will do fine.

I want something sturdy with functionality. I don't care how small it is, how shiny it is or what color it is, as long as it can take weekly trips down the last 3 stairs in my house, across the parking lot at work and being hefted with everything else in my purse onto the couch and still come out making calls!
Rim's BlackBerry's are the sturdiest I've seen yet. Mine has gone through that and more and aside from some nicks and scratches looks fine and works just as fine as it did on Day 1.
