My idea

I have been seriously considering writing a book for about two years now. I have had this idea for years, and it has continually evolved. Now I have reached a crucial point where I really want to write it, but don't have the confidence to do so. I have the fear that if I write it, no one will read it. And if someone does they will hate it. So here's where you come in. I want to pitch my idea, and I want your honest opinions/criticisms. I am mentally prepared for anything and everything you have to say. So here goes:
It takes place in the mountains in years past. There are two families of vampires: ones that have been "turned", and the other has been born into vampirism. There is a leader that controls both families, which don't get along. Both families are a mix of vampire and elves, so they can walk in the day.
There is a lot more to it, but I don't want to give it away. My husband says it's a great idea because it can appeal to two different groups of people. what do you think? The more people respond, the merrier. Is it any good? Does it have any appeal at all? Or should I just give it up and keep up writing poetry?

You have a valid point about that. My mother used to say "Get your rear in gear and get it done" But that was usually about homework.

Write the book. Start sending out part of the book to publishers. It may take a while, but something good will happen

Write your book. If you're ready for what anyone has to say then you're ready to deal with publishers. Keep in mind many authors went to many publishers before being published the first time. I think you have a great story idea.

You have no idea how nice it is to have truly positive feedback. I feel that my hubby has to say nice things, but people I have never met before tend to give more realistic opinions. Thank you so much. Makes me feel more confident.

The story line wouldn't appeal to be but only because I am not in to science fiction. It would however appeal to my 14 year old son. So, I guess you would have to decide on what type of audience you would want to attract. If writing that type of book is your passion then I say go for it. I am sure there are plenty of people out there that would like it.
