My idea

I have been seriously considering writing a book for about two years now. I have had this idea for years, and it has continually evolved. Now I have reached a crucial point where I really want to write it, but don't have the confidence to do so. I have the fear that if I write it, no one will read it. And if someone does they will hate it. So here's where you come in. I want to pitch my idea, and I want your honest opinions/criticisms. I am mentally prepared for anything and everything you have to say. So here goes: It takes place in the mountains in years past. There are two families of vampires: ones that have been "turned", and the other has been born into vampirism. There is a leader that controls both families, which don't get along. Both families are a mix of vampire and elves, so they can walk in the day. There is a lot more to it, but I don't want to give it away. My husband says it's a great idea because it can appeal to two different groups of people. what do you think? The more people respond, the merrier. Is it any good? Does it have any appeal at all? Or should I just give it up and keep up writing poetry?
