I don't know why she don't use the cat box, but she uses the newspaper. Is this good for a cat to do that? I have never seen any cat's like her and she is like a weasel, every time we are eating she stands like a dog. She has never been around dogs. She is three years old and like i said she never used the cat box I have tried it since she was a kitten. Anybody had this problem or is it ok for her to do that? I think it's easier to clean up.

I think its okay as long as she doesnt go all over the house. But if you want to get her into a litter box I would suggest shredding paper up and putting it in the box, then move the box closer to her paper every day until she starts using it.. then you can use shredded paper or actual litter. Cats are smart, she should catch onto this really fast.

Well vets recommend using shredded paper when your cat gets declawed so the litter doesnt get under their pawsers and irritate the area.. so we used shredded paper in the boxes and the cats used it just the same.. its worth a try. Good luck!

I heard once that kittens learn to do things by watching their mothers. Maybe if you borrow a litter-box trained kitten from a neighbor and your cat observes the kitten using the litter box she will try it, too. Also you might try moving the newspaper she likes to use closer and closer to the litter box until it is completely inside the litter box. You don't need to put any litter in the box while you are doing this. When she gets used to going on the paper, inside the litterbox, you could add a little litter at a time and finally take the newspaper away.

Cats are creatures of habbit. Either shred the paper and put it into the litter box, buy paper litter pellets, or put the full sheet on a cookie sheet. My cat likes to stand up like a weasel too, it's very cute. Good luck sugar.

I dont think theres anything wrong with it. Infact it turns out to be much cheaper than buying litter all the time. My cat loves her litter box. Shes allowed to go out but when its time to go she comes in and uses her litter box most of the time which gets on my nerves sometimes because Im the one who has to clean up. But then she loves doing things especially if she knows shes annoying me. Thats why I love her ;)

as long as they're changed,i don't see a problem.vets often have you use paper when cats have surgeries for a while. i have an older cat (16) who has a form of colitis- he has a litterbox with cloth because paper and litter irritate him. old clean t-shirts,towels,whatever cloth,he doesn't mind.

The newspaper shouldn't hurt her at all. That's probably pretty convenient that she uses paper instead of the cat box? After one of my cats had surgery, the vet recommended shredded newspaper in the litter box instead of cat litter. If the newspaper caused any harm, I don't think my vet would've recommended it.

I don't see why this would be a problem, if you don't mind it. I'm guessing she uses it in just one spot, rather than going on any paper that is left out or anything (that could be a problem!). As long as she is using it consistantly and you are fine with cleaning it up, I would say it is fine.

news paper is what the vets reccomend when yu first declaw a cat. Its easier on their paws, she probably dosent like the feel of litter. Hve you considered putting newspaper down in her litter box so she still uses the box ( contain smells and all) I know our cats will use newspaper if there is no clean litter about.

She's not declawed. The cat box is still next to the paper but she keeps using the paper oh yeah the cat box is clean but I guess she just likes paper better. Maybe cats has their own opinions,(smile) Thanks for the response.
