I Earned A Meager .88 After Posting More Than A Hundred Responses (sigh!)

Some of you might think that I have the luxury of time on my lap for being able to post that much comment but I don't. I work on weekdays (I am a teacher) and on weekeneds, I am the official house maid. But there wasn't much to do yesterday because there was no running water so I can't do the laundry which has been piled sky high... (I live in a rural Philippine area where water supply can be an on and off thing)
As I don't have much of a social life, I posted comments on my lot instead. I thought I'd be earning a dollar at least with the many posts I did, but (sigh again) all I ever got were a few pennies.
Well, I'll just take the experience as an experiment of sorts. And it did bring me a white star after a week ... I guess, I'd be happy with that.

Hi jean_rose, I am a teacher too! I think you should feel good instead of otherwise. I joined a month ago and had only just crossed that 100 postings mark. You've got your 100th postings in 2 weeks! That is simply amazing to me.
I also have similar earnings where postings concerned. Meaning to say that i only got pennies for my comments (and i spend 20 minutes on a comment on average) and i'm not to sure how the earning system works. Some seasoned mylotters say that the quality of your post determines your earnings. Then again, i think that's subjective.
Nonetheless, don't lose hope! Keep the postings coming. Cheers!!-Lyn

Thank you for that. I wasn't really that down because I wanted to see how many pennies would be added to the amount as soon as the 100+ responses were posted. But it was fun doing these things. It made me think and for that alone, I should be happy I am in my lot.

It's all about the star that you see above the head of mylot members why have reached 100 posts. I was asking yesterday what it was all about because I did not understand why a pink star of 5 suddenly appeared above my avatar. It's our reputation here at mylot, they say. I still couldn't grasp fully how that reputation is computed though.

Maybe some of your earnings will pass over to the next day. I hope so because you are a good poster and deserve it. That happens to me constantly by the way.

It does look like that happens if you post a lot within a few hours of the earnings updating. I'm not positive, but I earned around 30c on a day I hardly posted and hadn't really got replies. Just see what it is when the earnings roll over again. I'll bet it catches up.

I now remember when I first started here. I guess, it was on Wednesday that I never even posted anything and the amount rose 2 cents higher. But well, I should be glad that I am .88 richer today

Oh, so these things happen? I mean earnings passed on to the next day? It's really a headache to be new to a certain endeavor. We don't know our way around. But it's a good thing how people here at mylot can help each other around. Thanks for the info, my friend.

my suggestion is to talk more in your responses.i think but im not sure it matters how much u talk rather than how many post u have. something that would alspo help is to get a 10 star the higher star u have the more money you will make

Thanks for the input. And yes, I have expressed precious opinions on the responses I made. There were even some when I left two or three paragraphs to get my point across. But then, maybe, they did not want someone who disagrees with their opinions.

Hi,
I only joined yesterday and i don't really understand much yet, but i did 6 posts yesterday and started a discussion that got a few responses and i earned .09 which i thought was good....is that good, or is that pretty bad?
On another discussion someone also said that you should always add a tag at the end of your response and that earns you more, so now i do that every time.
I don't get alot of time to spend on here, but am hoping to make a few friends and leave at least 10 replies a day and let the pennies slowly build up, i'm not looking for instant wealth, just a little extra every now and again.

I can compare, I don't have much time on here either, I'm usually hanging with friends or at the skatepark downtown. As someone else has stated, get some friends and earn some rep, you'll get there :D

this has been happening to a few of us lately. One day last week i earned ten cents for a few hours on here. I think mylot have changed the way they are paying us again. It was that i could relatively earn 2 dollers a day here, now if i get a doller ive had a good day. I dont think it is just mylot in my case i have also become demotivated by the lowering of payments
blessed be

hi jean sorry to hear this! what you need to do in order to earn about a dollar is put a good few lines into your responses and start up some discussions (im not saying you don't) but this could be the reason why you only got a few pennies! that's what i do and i earn a dollar! =) hope you see your earnings rise soon!

You've got a point there. In less than two weeks, I am hooked day after day. And today, I am .74 richer. If this happens everyday, I might be able to get my minimum payout in less than a month...

I work full time, so my time here is limited. I've been getting on mylot off and on for a month now and , wow, I'm up to 49 cents. I saw where some of the others that responded to you mention to make sure your post are more than a couple of lines and seems like I read that somewhere in here. I don't think I would try to make a living here, but mylot is very interesting to me and I have a thirsty mind. Love seeing what others think about different topics. Hand in there and keep posting, maybe it'll get better !

Thanks for cheering me on. I am only free to post as much as 100 during the weekends because I work on weekdays also.

I think there must be a reason why this happened. Last weekend on both satuday and sunday, I did exactly 100 posts to check the payout consistency.
One day I earned $2.46 and the other $2.48. So, that test showed me that mylot is consistent with paying as far as my type of responsess and other activities on site. And that may be the key.
Are your responses to short and off topic? Do you use some tags?
With my 100 responses, I also began 10 or so discussions. You must do both. Did you rate your responses(at least some of them). Did you pick at least some "best responses?" Did you add some uploaded photos?
Try an experiment one day and do the above along with exactly 100 posts and I think you will see an improvement in the payout. Really, most of the above suggestions do not take that much time.
I would be interested to know how it works out for you.
REMEMBER: Mylot uses a complicated payout formula that includes all aspects of participation.
That in my mind is the key and also is the reason myloters are getting frustrated. Their work here is one-dimensional.

Further......
There is a maximum allowable number of picture uploads. Last week they stopped me at 20. For that day, last Saturday, I was paid 10 cents for photos. So, half a cent per pic.
So while you are there responding to discussions(assuming you are over 500 score) add pictures until you reach the maximum.(I think they can be pictures of anything) On the day you speak of that would have put you at 98 cents. Add a few other things I mentioned and there you go......over a dollar and climbing.. Like I said, do a test, record what you do and see what happens....
However, there is a point of diminishing returns. Yesterday I did 200 good responses, 8 pics and started 10 discussions, gave best responses, used some tags, rated and was payed $3.18.
So double the work did not equal double the pay or I would have earned around $5.00. I would say 100-150 posts with the added features I mentioned and you can earn an average of $2.50 per day or $65-75 per month...(if you have 4 or 5 hours to give to the work....

Just noticed that you are not yet at 500. No problem. That just means you can only upload pictures on discussions you start. That being the case, you would have to start 20 discussions to upload 20 pics..So just do what you have time for now(maybe 10 for five cents)and when you reach 500, you can upload pics on responses you do which is great.
Keep going! You will be there soon.^_^

This has been the most comprehensive response so far and I really appreciate it. I only posted responses and a couple discussions, have not uploaded photos, have not marked any best response and forgot to rate the discussions I responded to...
I still have a lot to learn and this response has helped me a lot. Thanks once again.

Yes, I've noticed the same thing also. The key is to start great discussions, and reply with great answers so people will notice, and raise your "reputation" here. Good luck!

Well all I can tell you is it just depends. It depends on how your posts are, if they are quality posts and discussions and not just one word answers. I think you get paid more if your rating stays higher and you also get paid for rating other people. Oh yeah one last thing on the left hand side where it says unresolved discussions, that is discussions you have started but have not given a best response to. Go in and do them and you'll earn more too.

Hello jean!(",) Now, you know that mylot doesn't pay that much but, its okay.(",)I'm also from the Philippines and a dollar is much already. Mylot is one of my past time that I enjoy so much. Don't you worry, just continue posting and you'll never expect to have 10 dollars or more by the end of the month. You are doing a great progress. Keep it up and try to answer discussions longer or make it up to 5 sentences or more. Good day and send my regards to all of your students!(",)

Well. i read what you wrote, and i can only tell you that a 100 posts, is alote of posts, and usually you are supposed to earn a cent for each post, maybe you replied with a one sentence response to some of them? this doesn't get you any money earned.
But now i am seeing you have a star that is numbered 9. and your mylot reputation is 91, so i guess now you are getting payed more money.
I have a suggestion for you. just try to forget the whole money earning stuff. respond to topics you really like, and answer with a 6-10 quality sentence, and in the end of the day you will see, that your earning has gone up. good luck and welcome to mylot.

OMG, can't believe that you earned quite a little after posting about 100. Maybe you should contact mylot. Anyhow for making more money pls see this topic. http://mylot.com/w/discussions/892808.aspx
If it didn't help you then, pls ask some experienced mylotters.
Anyhow, with the topic. Jean do post that much and in doing so don't give any one liner's or two three's. Be reasonable with your post and discussions that you start and in doing so you get your reward i.e. earning of upto about $1 that you want to make, I hope.

I just enjoy myself posting some interesting discussions and made replies to discussions which I find I can help and have something to contribute that is useful. I did earn earn $0.41 on less than 30 discussions or replies and I was surprised and already happy about it. What is more rewarding here is when you received a reply that you're able to help someone even in simple ways. :)

Thanks for joining my discussion. When I first joined a week or so ago, I earned .20 the first day with 15 responses. And you are right, if we can help someone through our humble ides and opinions, that should be enough compensation.

Hi Jean... Mylot or any other website like Mylot can never be a substitute for your social life , so the best people to be here is people who like to chat, chat and chat,,I don't mean to be rude ..so if chatting is not your thing, just try other things to improve your social life.Because money here is just an added bonus and not the main motive...

Thanks for the suggestion, my friend. Being married with two kids , I am no longer that interested in hanging out with people. Besides, my work as a high school teacher gives me a lot of company during the daytime. When I arrive home from work, since I live in a province which does not have much decent night spots, I found the internet more of a positive diversion by blogging and lately, by getting into Mylot.
