We do watch TV with the kids most of the time. And we don't let them watch whatever they want. They love their cartoons of course and so we watch a lot of them. The 2 year olds favorite shows are Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go, Backyardigans, Blue's Clues, that type of thing. The two older boys, 5 and 7, will watch those shows with their baby brother but the 5 year old prefers shows like Spongebob Squarepants, Stanley, Wow Wow Wubbzy, Pinkie Dinkie Doo, Max and Ruby, Little Bear, Franklin, Maisy, Land Before Time and stuff like that. The 7 year old prefers Tom and Jerry, Teen Titans, Justice League, Spongebob, Pokemon, Star Racers, Pucca and stuff like that. I can't stand most of the shows that the 7 year old watches so his mother is with him for that. I am his grandma and we all live together. MY favorite cartoons are all the Scooby Doo series and movies, Kim Possible and Lilo and Stitch. And yes, I do watch them and the boys are generally not happy with my choice so I have to go to my room. We watch movies with the boys and they like things like Jurassic Park and Tremors and Eight Legged Freaks, parts of King Kong. Movies with giant fake animals and bugs that rampage across the countryside. We find them hysterical and laugh through most of them. It's our "family time." Unfortunately I think that our family watches too much TV and we are trying to change that but its not as easy as I wish it was.

Yes I do, it's very important to control what our children watch at TV. I live in Italia and I have to say thatthere aren't bad programs for kids during the day, our government pays attention to the shows on TV in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening, and as my child goes to bed not late there are no problems, but it sometimes happen that he goes to bed late and so I always control what programs he's watching. He is still only 7 years old, and so I can control him very easily, but in future, also when he'll grow up, I'll go on controlling what he watches. TV tends to educate our kids, we must always pay attention to what they learn from TV.

They have 5 channels they are allowed to watch without me there. They know which channels they are and are content with them. We have satellite so its pretty easy to stumble upon something not age appropriate, so restricting them to the 5 channels lets me know that when I'm not in the room they are not seeing something they shouldn't.

There are only certain channels that I allow my 4 year old son to watch. They are cartoon network, disney channel, toons, nickjr channel and sometimes animal planet. I always make sure I am around when he does watch them. Mind you he isn't interested in anything else but cartoons. The only thing I have to be very careful with is when he is on the laptop as he tends to just type in anything and has brought up stuff that most definitely are for adults only. We have put restrictions on it but from time to time, the odd adult page does come up. I have to constantly check on what he's doing.

I am not real strict on what my kids watch. I would rather know what they are watching then have them go behind my back to watch stuff. This way if they have a question about anything we can discuss it as a family. I am the same way with video games. My kids are 12,10 2 and 1 yrs old
