I still think that majority of the cops out there still have their moral values and honor in tact. But one can't also deny the fact that a lot of these officers are corrupt and tainted. I guess the only cop we can really trust are the ones we are acquainted with or is a family friend.

I believe that the vast majority of police officers have pure intentions when they are "on the job". By far, being a police officer is one of the most difficult jobs to have, because you are not simply judged on your own performance, but on the performance of cops who have come before you and all other officers across the country. Bad experiences that people have with the police taint their perception of all other police officers and the respective agencies.
You can base your opinion about officers on whatever you choose. My choice is to base it on how each individual officer performs, not what a different person has done. If you 5 brothers, and one of them made a poor choice in life and really put himself in a bad situation, would you want people in your community to blame you for his choices?
