Do you feel Fashion concious when in NYC?

I like to dress properly personally! And especially in NYC, I definitely give importance to my outfits. I have heard people stare at your clothing from top to bottom especially while travelling in Subways to NYC..Curious to know your opinions :)Do you feel the same/different?
