How many of you movie watchers get annoyed at movie sequels that gone bad? The only sequels I can say were good was movies from Mission Impossible, Lord Of The Rings, Harry Potter, Shrek, Spiderman, X-Men and Resident Evil. Therefore how about you? Which sequels were good and bad?

The best sequel was Godfather2. it was better than The Godfather. And there are series tha started out okay and then went bad, like Rocky and Leyhal Weapon. With Rocky, the first and the second were good, but 3-6? Why were they even made? The same with Lethal Weapon. The first one was good. The second was better, but 3 and 4?What a waste of time. These days the sequel takes so long to get made, like Basic Instinct. What a bad idea to make the sequel about ten years after the first.

from my observation, if the sequels is based on some books (lord of the ring, harry porter) or some comic (spiderman, x-men), it has the potential to be a good movie. it is because it already has a steady storyline.
sequel which is usually created because of the success of the first movie normally sucks (ocean's twelve, once upon a time in mexico, matrix).
movies with too many sequels (rocky, james bond) also tend to be a bad movie.
personally, i think 3 is the limit for sequels. the concepts implemented in infernal affair (a hong kong movie which the movie departed is based on) is brilliant. it consists of the original movie, a prequel and a sequel.

It can be a huge shame when sequals are bad, and the majority of the time they are. Its probably because the origional film was never made to continue and it has been attempted due to demand or popularity, so it doesnt contain the same inspiration as the first. I never expect with a sequal since it really is hard to compete with the origional unless you do with a completely different angle during the same characters and such.

Many sequels don't live upto the first film,i agree with all of your movies except Harry Potter and Reaident Evil.I can't comment on these as i haven't seen them.
Others i think were good sequels were the Star Wars trilogy and the Star Wars prsequels, also all the Lethal Weapon movies,Batman films,Silence of the lambs and it's follow up.
The only bad sequel i can think of was Speed2.Speed was a great movie but Speed2 was a diapointment
