Myspace etc. - Have you made real friends there?

I have signed up to myspace some months ago and have received a lot of friend requests so far. But these requests seem to come mostly from people who want to advertise or sell something. What are your experiences with myspace and other social networking sites? Do you consider them useful to build a network or to make real friends?
