The highest rank of the IAF is the Air Chief Marshal, Wing Commander is the fourth rank ranging between squadron leader and Group Captain. The rank above the Air Chief Marshal is the Marshal of the Air Force which was conferred for the life time in the Indian Air Force

The highest rank in the Indian Air Force is the Air Chief Marshal. Presently, Air Chief Marshal.F.H.Major is in this designation. The Air force hierarchy consists of 11 ranks which includes, Flying Officer, Flight Lieutenant, Squadron Leader, Wing Commander, Group Captain, Air Commodore, Air Vice Marshal, Air Marshal,Airchief Marshal.
