well i do thank each person that responds to my post. i want him/her to know that i respect his answer and opinions even if i do not agree with them. but just now i read the mylot rules and there it was said that we should not respond with a thank you.. i do not think that my response of appreciation to the people that respond to my posts is a way or a thing that can cause any damage. and i do see it as very important to me..like i do say thank you to alote of people for things in life. what do you think about that? do you thank people when they respond to one of your post as a gesture or don't you? and why?

I have only posted a few discussions and I did thank users for their response until someone informed me about the rules of mylot and saying thank you to users for responding was not allowed, so I try to add a bit more than just saying "thank you" and then I rate them. Sometimes I don't say anything and just leave it at that.

That is a very admirable thing to do, and certainly will be appreciated. :) It shows that you have taken the time to read and value their opinion, and also shows that you are willing to help other people out. Because so few people actually read my discussions I have plenty of time to thank them all lol! If only more people would do it it really brightens up my day.

I used to thank everyone for their response to my discussions, but I don't anymore. I try to stick to Mylot's rules. If they post something I want to respond to, I will respond to that with my thoughts, though. I think it's become an unspoken thing that we appreciate when others respond to our discussions. I always to make sure everyone gets rated.

I never say "thank you" for a response, because that's what we are here for... to post and to respond! I only respond to a response if I have anything to say on that, to add, or whatsoever... Easy as that! So, Liranlgo, don't thank me for this ansewer - LOL

I'm with you I like to add a comment to every response - if I cannot think of something constructive then I just say thank you! It does take a lot of time but I think it is worth it!

i have always done that. infact i make sure to comment on every responses i get to my discussions. Rating, commenting and re-commenting that is how it happens with me everytime, except for some really inane posts. i have always found that you just make sure to thank the responders in your very sweet way. however, i can understand others not doing it, given the loads of responses he/she gets. thank you, keep up the good work

Although before me many have submitted their views. Even then I would reply to your discussion. I also make it point to read each and every reply given in response to my discussion. I, like you, always post my comments on the replies and if that is not possible, due to one reason or another, I convey my 'thanks' to the respondent. I strongly feel, if a member has responsded to my discussion, he would have devoted his/her precious time comprehending the dicussion and replying to the discussion. Though I receive limited number of responses, but each reply is invaluable and important to me. I feel I must send my acknowledgements to the respondent. I am not aware if mylot rules say - we should not respond with thank you. Perhaps, their intention behind that would be that we must contribute our thoughts and reactions also on the replies received by us. I love to respond to those dicussions where the member starting the discussion usually read and comment on replies. I have also felt that if I do not receive any comment on my replies (lenth of the comment is immaterial)it means that the members who started the discussion has not read my response. Then, it dicourages me because I would not be able to know in that case, whether the member went through my reply or not. Seeing comments on the replies posted by me, surely give me a big boost and encouragement and the member who acknowledges my reply, I try to respond to his/her discussions in future also.

Nice to see your reactions on my reply. You are right.... we keep on looking & searching for those friends/members who think on our lines (do not you think, when we see/find someone like us, we feel assured/secured - thinking...OH! Good! there are members like us in other part of the world also!....). Thanks for your positive reaction on my reply. Best of Luck! Happy Posting !

You started a very good discussion and seeing the number and contents of response, you will come to know how serious are the members about reading others' replies. (+) rated.

i do see how serious the respobders are and thank you for your good words i liked the part that you said: "Seeing comments on the replies posted by me, surely give me a big boost and encouragement and the member who acknowledges my reply, I try to respond to his/her discussions in future also. " that is what i am trying to do and i am happy to see there are others like me:)

hello, ow i never knew that. because i always respond "thank you" to all who reply on my discussions. now i know and will try to add up more things before saying thanks. I often say thank you to evryone especially when what they did is well appreciated. actually, for me a little things count and we need to say thanks. :)

I used to do that but I stopped. Most of the time, when someone marks out a best response, he just want to close the discussion anyway and he is really expecting to be thanked. I do however check on those responses I made that received the best response. I *selectively* thank people (quite arbitrary really) but if a comment was added to my response, I would always add reply and probably add a thanks. :)

I will read all the replies of the discussions, but due to the shortage of time, i am not able to comment them, but i really appreciate for their time to read my discussions, I really want to say thank you to them.. So do these factors ctually affect our rating or earnings? anyone know about it ??

That's admirable, my friend. I also would like to answer to every response to my discussion but my dial up connection sometimes takes forever to load a page. Like today, it was the first time that a discussion I started generated 36 responses and I wanted to answer every one of them. But then, the slow connection which sometimes hangs makes it really difficult for me to do so.

so you are saying you thing it is better for you to response and form a discussion that just say thank you?
• United States

Yes I do. Its not only common courtesy but also lets the responder know that you read his/her comment and that you value their opinion even if you don't agree with it. Everyone likes to be acknowledged and appreciated. And you can't ever say 'thank you' enough.

I do not say thanks to everyone who gives a response to the topics i started, but I tried to give a reply to the responses. by doing this, i want to show my respect to the people who joined my discussion.I think it is ok for mylotters to say thanks to each other.of course, I know mylot administrators will not credit for such a response.
