What kind of bird is Big BIrd from the Sesame Street?

I'm intrigue by the way she looks. Is she an ostrich? She's so huge to become A SMALL BIRD like a dove or a parrot (anyway, she doesn't look like she's one). What kind of bird is she?

LMAO. I really believe before that Big Bird is a mixed hybrid of an ostrich, a giraffe and a newly hatched chick. Some sort of a mutation. hahaha. Seriously.

i've always wondered that myself! ostrich would probably be the best candidate due to height..but ostriches aren't yellow. i don't think they've ever said really.

LOL I don't think there's a bird like that going around in the real world. It's just some imaginary thing they've created. Anyone else really scared for that bird? I can't stand looking at it.
