Experiences in a new country

Canada

I have recently made the move from Canada to England. Although we speak the same language I am finding that my version is a little different! I have been learning new ways of saying things such as calling the garbage can "the bin" and calling garbage "rubbish". I would normally say cell phone but here it is a "mobile". Has anyone else had the same experience and what are some of the things you have noticed?

I have never traveled out of the USA but have encountered people from England, and it is a little funny the confusion between our words and theirs. We say elevator they say lift, we say hood and trunk of the car, the say boot and bonnet. It is the smallest of words that make a difference.
