i have been in mylot for about one weeks.i found that there are many philippine people here,and they are usually earn the money eagerly.i wonder why they are so eagerly to earn the mylot pay while master the english language.is philippine too poor?in my country china,if you master english language ,you can get a good job and earn more money.is english the philippine mother language?if it is,where is their native language?

I think the Philippine' language is not English. They talk English abroad, just because the convenience of communication on work. They must have their local language.

thanks for your responding.the philippine was invaded ty british in the history and become the colony .so i think their native language has disappeared,but be replaced by english.

Hi liangrifle! I'm from the Philippines and i would just like to answer your question whether English is the official language here. Technically no, we call our official language "Filipino" (but most commonly known as "Tagalog"). English is only our second language but is widely used in all transactions here in the Philippines. Filipinos were taught of the English language the moment they enter school until they graduate from college.
As for your question "is philippines a poor country?", my answers are both yes and no. Yes because most Filipinos belong to the poverty line. Meaning most of them are poor, lack the proper education, and are striving really hard to earn a living (and i'm one of them! Lol!). No because Philippines is a very rich country in terms of natural resources. Only that, they do not know how to exploit them properly and they allow other countries to take over it. Sad, but true....
