Do you really want to be famous?

Think about this carefully before you answer. One of the semi-famous stars that I have a crush on was compelled to publically reprimand his own fans for internet bashing his fiancee. People are constantly discussing Anna Nicole, Britny Spears and the lot. It seems the price of fame is no longer being allowed to make mistakes. Every word is measured and every action is scutinized. So really think about what you would do if you were suddenly famous? Would you want it?

It all depends on what you want. Fame has its ups and downs. Look at Bono and Anjelina Jolie. If they weren't famous would their voices for their causes be heard? I don't think so. Being a famoous person makes people want to listen to you. It may be something important like poverty,AIDS or world hunger, or it could be something as trivial as what you eat for dinner. It doesn't matter, perople want to know. Of course, to everything there is a price. When you're famous you can say goodbye to a life of your own. You can't make any mistakes. People would want you to behave like the characters you play on TV or in the movies. They always diss you if you do something wrong. So to answer your question, yes I would like to be insantly famous but only for a while. Like if I saved a baby or I rescued the President or something like that. I wouldn't want to be famous for life.

You make a very good point that a lot of people use their status a a foil against the mistakes of society and inequity, but even some of these are only doing it to balance their bad press. I actually like the few and far between like Angelina Jolie who simply live their lives, show what they believe in and screw everyone else but the scruntiny the famous receive is still not very proportianal--think about poor Princess Di.

That is exactly my point, what if every mistake you made was pointed out to the world rather than the select few who snicker? The smaller the crowd the easier it is to pick yourself up. Then again we have those B-list Surreal life that will do anything to make a comeback. Its fine line and I still fell sorry for the true artists who just want to be.

River dawn - I love early morning runs just as the sun is rising.
No...I have seen famous people when I have been on holidays. They never get left alone. People are always hounding them and following them around. What is the sense of having fame and wealth when you can't do anything in peace?

I am a writer who is constantly thinking of stories but I am always afraid to do much about them because of the down side of being famous. I wonder if J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter author) regrets her success ebcause of this?
