What section do you go to in the grocery store?

I've seen people head over to the frozen food first thing and throw in the ice cream. Maybe it was the most important thing for them that day, but then they shop for another 45 minutes and by the time they get home the ice cream is a soggy mess. Where do you head for first? Produce, meat, bakery, canned goods?

I usually start at the produc aisle and work my way down every asile after that. (Although I do skip the magazines, cards, and pet needs, because I never need anything from those sections.) I am a very frugal shopper, and hit up all aisles for good buys, even if I don't particularly need it at the time.

That's usually what I do too. I tend to base my meals for the week on what produce looks good and is on good prices, then go through the rest of the store. I pick up the frozen food last unless it's going to be a quick shopping trip; I hate soggy ice cream and I'm too nice to send someone back to get me a new one.

We go to the bakery first, because it's diectly in front of the doors that we always enter by. This is funny, because we get a loaf of bread, and it ends up in the bottom of the basket. I usually rescue it from the apples, but every week, I point out how we should start with the produce, and every week, we forget. We do dairy last so that it stays cold. We don't usually buy things from the aisles - we just go around the outside. Unless we need baking supplies or pasta.

I always go the produce section first when I get to the grocery store. Then I will get milk, orange juice and cheese. Then I'll probably go to the deli to get cold cuts and pick up whatever else I need.

It is a well-known fact that the frozen food section should be visited last. It does not take me that much to shop around, though, sometimes I have to spend more than 20 minutes waiting at the cash. I first visit the fruits and vegetables section, than the bakery, then some other sections depending on my needs and finally the frozen food section, mostly to pick up some frozen pizza.

Unless i've gone in to buy something specific (in which case i head straight to the isle that item is on) i usually just follow the layout of the shop, starting at the entrance and going round in a circle and ending up at the checkouts. I guess it just makes sense to me to do it that way, it's only logical. I guess they plan the supermarkets so that generally the frozen stuff is nearer the checkouts and is the last thing you'd put into your trolley before paying.

I always seem to go to the right and then work my way down, then across and back up to the front. It depends on how the store is set up what I buy first. Produce always seems to be the first section in the stores I go. But if I am at walmart the foods directly after produce are the frozen goods :( If I were smart I would turn left at walmart and do the housewares stuff first (but I think I never intend to shop that side of the store when I enter!) I put icecream in the insulated bags so that does not matter. In the other stores I shop at dairy and ice cream (and other frozen goods) are at the last area (on the left!) of the store, and I think that is a very ideal situation.

We usually start in the health section. We are always buying vitamins and supplements. After that, we just go aisle by aisle. We don't get too much meat at the grocery store as it is a lot better from our local butcher's. At least we know where it came from. We have a Tesco superstore nearby and it is quite big by UK standards. It's great now that we have more choices under one roof.

in the grocery store I go the way the grocery is set up. Produce and then canned goods, boxed, meat, dairy, and then frozen. I never buy too much that isn't on sale so I never really take to long.

I normally go to the canned good section, and then to the soap, shampoo, hygiene section. Frozen and meat product sections are my last stop.

When i go to shop, i never enter a place where there is only one thing. i enter a super marker where there are sections in it . i dont like to enter just a grocery shop, then if i have to buy toiletries, i go and search for some other place, them for furnishing, i go to someother, then for food grains and other kitchen items i go some where else. i like to go to my super marker. there are many near my place. i prefer going there. you enter there with your trolley and start picking up the things. i start up with dry things first like our staple food which is rice , wheat, pulses, lentils, then i move on to soaps and detergent, perfumes, deos, talcumm powder, foil, napkins, then i go for veggies in the end. i dont buy bread or cakes from that place. i like to buy them fresh or prefer making it at home on my own.as i am a vegetarian , i dont need to go to non-veg section where all the frozen stuff is kept. i dont even take ice creams from that place as by the time i reach home i have to take a glass to serve it, because it will melt and become drinkable. i have recently learnt how to make an ice cream and once i made when one of my relative came for lunch on last sunday. they were not able to make out that is made at home at all. they thought it is from outside. it was a compliment in itself for me. it was my first attempt to it and i succeceded in it.

If you want to buy ice cream, definitely you have to buy it just before you leave the supermarket..It is better to shop in the same sequence everytime so that you will not forget to buy somthing easily. Firstly,I will go to the Junk Food section first because I am a junk food lovers,I always go there and see whether there are some specials... Secondly,I will go to buy some food like bread, fruits, vegetable, canned food. Finally,I will go to the frozen food section,e.g ice cream,pork,steak..etc.

I will usually try to get larger items first, such as the 24 packs of coke and bottled water, then the laudry soap supplies. The produce, dairy and meat are usually last in the cart and then to the check out. Ice is definitely last to get picked up.

I usually go to the produce section first. I eat a lot of salads and fresh fruit. Plus I think it helps for me to go there first so I don't buy too much junk. I always like to say that hey I eat super healthy earlier so I deserve to junk out for a while.

I start in the first isle and make my way through. I have never experienced melting ice cream by the time I have gotten home. Many times I have used delivery and they put the stuff in the freezer until they delivered it so it has never been a problem for me. Interesting question though.

I usually start in the meat department. I'm on a strict budget and its the meat that takes up most of my grocery money so I like to get that in the cart first so I know how much money I'm working with for the rest of my grocery shopping.

I do toiletries first, if I need them, then canned goods, then produce, then frozen and meats last. I always worry about foods getting too warm, so I hit up the cold stuff last. Plus I think if I went to frozen treats first I'd end up with a cart full of spumoni!

In the UK the first asiles in the supermarket tend to be the fruit and veg - so I start there. Very predictable - but I find that shopping takes less time when you stick to your routines!
