The recipe that takes you back in time in a place and time you fondly remember? My favorite is my mom's fruit salad. I still make it from time to time for dessert and when I do, it reminds me of my younger days where we'd run to the kitchen waiting to get a cup of that yummy treat my mom made for us.

Awwwww I love apple pie! My aunt used to bake some for us when she was stronger. Too bad she couldnt do it anymore. I miss her. Actually, eating apple pie reminds me of her. Sweet and fun memories that I wish I could bring back.

My favorite is chocolates made by my friend. I really like it because it is not so sweet. Just right for figure concious like me. It really makes me feel at ease and relaxed after I ate a bar.

My comfort food is rather bland in most respects. When growing up I spent a lot of time at my grandma & grandpa's house. Most mornings the breakfast grandma would make for me was 2 or 3 soft-boiled eggs mashed up with a little butter, salt & pepper - served with buttered toast to soak up the egg yolks.
As an adult, I am not much of a breakfast eater but I get cravings for this every so often...especially when I am sick, this is usually the only thing that I will eat. Kinda like people with chicken soup.

My mom always makes potato croquettes for holidays, and these take me back.
Leftover mashed potatoes or the pulp from leftover baked potatoes (about 8 big ones, total)
6 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
1/2 an onion, cooked in bacon fat
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
some green onion tops
an egg or two
mix all these together and form the potato mixture into patties or logs. dust with flour, dip in beaten egg, and then dredge in breadcrumbs and fry at 350 F until brown. Line up on a baking sheet and you can either chuck it in the fridge at this point to use tomorrow or put in the oven while you get on with the rest of your meal. I love these with sour cream, although my BF likes them with applesauce (weird!).
These always make me think of home during the holidays.

I havent really tried this yet. We used to have left over mashed potatoes that I just eat again. I'll try to make this. Sounds like a really yummy recipe. Thanks for sharing!
