As a child I thought of my aunt as my second mother. She would guide me in ways my mom took no interest in knowing. Several years ago, my aunt told me things as a child I swore I would never speak because it would cause some real problems. My aunt would tell me things like: my mom does not like me, the man I call my dad is not really my dad, I would become a welfare mom, talk about my housekeeping habits. One day I was being evicted by a man whom my mother was dating, and my mom called and told my aunt that he got to do what he has to do because he has taxes to pay, and I shouldn't be treated an differently because she's my mom. So my aunt and I decided to call my mom on three-way to confirm the situation, and without my moms knowledge that I was on the phone, I just went off and told her everything my aunt told me for the past 14 years. Although it ended thier relationship, my aunt really doesn't talk to me anymore and my mom and her have not talked in 4 years. Was my aunt trying to help me or destroy me? What do you think her motive was?

People are funny... aunts are funny... probably there was envy, etc., going on between your mother and aunt... i'm sure your aunt loves you... but people are funny... and aunts are people. To cut a long story short: she was probably trying to help you and get back on your mother at the same time. Talk of killing two birds with one stone. Very very much doubt she was out to destroy you.

First I want to ask you, Pattycake, does your Aunt have any children. But maybe that doesn't have anything to do with it.
But I do want to say is that yes your Aunt was trying to destroy your life and your mom's by manipulating you and causing you to distrust your mom.
I've have sisters who've done that to my children and I don't communicate with them much because through all these years they're still the same.
Even treating my grands the same way.
So now that you've learned the truth don't go back into the dogs backyard and get bitten again.
