Charity, Comic relief

In the UK we have an annual show called comic relief that shows all of the poverty in third world countries and even the darkest problems behind closed doors in this country. They put on skits, tv specials and have celebrities doing all sorts. Now the celebrities dont get any money for this but they do get publicity. Whilst it is nice that the celevrities are using their fame for a good cause it does make me wonder about the hyporisy of the world. If 100 celebrities gave one months wages, or even something like 10,000 quid a year to charity, there would be no poverty, there would be no super fast killing diseases. It showed on the television that it costs only £90 to build a sanitised toilet cubicle in a third world country and only £2.50 for mosquito nets to prevent malaria. Just think if all the celebrities gave at least 10,000 each to that cause how much can be done really fast. But instead their money just sits in the bank gathering interest for the rest of their lives so they can use it getting drunk. Its left to us volunteering our spare time, our last pennies giving to them. I think celebrities need to start being less selfish and start looking at the world around them

I agree with you on this. I do hate the politics of the celebrity world. I mean being famous comes at a price as you have your life spread out on newspapers but you would think that with that little price to pay you could put something really memorable for them to write about. If i was famous i dont think i could buy things like 10 houses (mel gibson) without feeling really guilty. I feel guilty having more clothes than can fit in my wardrobe and more than enough trainers to wear one pair twice a day and not have to wear the same pair twice in a week
