Do you download ringtones to your cellphone

i have once for my sidekick, but i didn't use it as a ringtone because i only had a data plan. i used it as a signal for when a certain friend of mine would sign on aim. but now my boyfriend and i have a new phone with a voice plan.. so we have the option obviously to download ringtones but our phone is also a music player so we have the option of just putting music from our computer onto our phone and using it as a ringtone. saves a bit of money plus we can choose whatever song we want without having to wonder if it's available from the phone service. :]
