How old on average have your cats lived? The oldest cat Ive ever had is now 7. We didnt have cats for a really long time til we got him. My baby dirt is almost 1. I know a woman who's cat was 12 when it passed away. How long have your kitty children lived on average?I'm already dreading something happening to my little one. I'm gonna be a basket case.

You know I dread something happening to my babies, any of them. One of the black cats from the litter last summer got hit by a car last month and I cried. We have always had outside cats, our oldest we found when I was little and she lived 12 years with us and when my brother moved she lived another 3 before she was hit on the road.. if he would have left her here to live I have no doubt she would have lived longer.. these are the first inside kitties we've ever had.. did you hear about the cat food recall?

Smokey - My cat Smokey
My cat Smokey lived for 17years, I loved that cat but I had to have her put to sleep as she had kidney troubles and the vet thought it was best to put her to sleep, hard thing to do but I look at it that she had the best 17years a cat could want...

My Whiskey is still on the farm with my Dad, he is 14. My brothers cat lived to 18 before cancer took him. I have real bad luck with my cats, I have never had one live a long life. Tabby is 8 and she is my oldest so far.

7 doesn't seem very old at all, my last 2 cats were both around 12 before they got sick and had to get put down. My parent's cat is about 4 now I think, she's a little bit mental lol

I had a cat named "Precious" she was a solid white cat with one eye blue and the other eye green She lived 13 years that is the oldest cat that I have ever had. She passed away couple of years ago from old age. I still think of her and my heart still aches when I think of her I had her since she was a kitten.

One of my cats lived to be only 4 but he had a medical issue. The other one lived to be 17. She had a thyroid problem in the last year of her life. My laast cat is now 21 and still going strong.

My cats have all been indoor guys and that makes a big difference in their life....Pooter was 17 years old when he finally left and Gizmo was 16 years old...I have another old girl..Angel who may be approaching 20 years...I adopted her off the street after a neighbor dumped her....What a creep....to do that to a kitty....she deserves a full blown case of AIDS for those actions...anyway....like I said..living indoors will prolong your kitty's stay.... Damn..I love cats...!!

My husband had a cat that lived for 18 years. He had her since he was 10 years old and the cat was just a kitten when his family got her. The cat passed away back in 1995, making her the age was.

I had a pet cat who lived to seventeen years, then she started having seizures and incontinence - so we had to have her put down. It was hard to do, but she was suffering so much every day.

It's tough when something happens to our pets - but if you've treated them well, at least you know they've had a good life with you. I had to have one of my girls put down in November - she was between 13-15 years old. She was a stray, so I don't know exactly how old she was when we found her, except that she was over a year old. I had her for almost 12 years (it would have been 12 years in December). My second cat is 16 now, and I've had her for almost 13 years. So, I guess they've lived fairly lengthy lives. And hopefully happy ones!

I had one that was 8, one 12 and one 15. I have heard of them living longer than that.

The cats I have right now are older, the oldest turns 17 this year how she made it that old I have no idea, but she's still kicking. My youngest is 6 and the middle one is 10. They are inside cats I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Well these are my first babies and they're a year and a half, but my friend had a cat that lived until 20. I think the average for outdoor cats is 8 and the average for indoor is twice that many.
