This is definitely one of Will Smith's best movies. Found myself crying during and after the movie, not because it is too mushy but because it made me realise a lot of things about my life. What is your favorite scene? a scene that really struck you?
I actually have 2. First: the day before his interview with the company that he was applying for as an intern, he was painting his apartment out of depression and he was arrested by the police for not paying parking tickets. With paint all over him, he stayed in jail overnight and was released at 9:30. Since the interview was at 10:15, he ran from the police station to the location of the company. At first, the interviewers looked at him with disappointment. one of the guys asked him (from what i recall), "What will you do if a half naked guy comes to my office for an interview and i hire him?" Gardner answered. "He must have a very nice pair of paints."
Second: The last day of Gardner's internship. He was called by the same guys who conducted his initial interview. This time he was wearing a shirt, coat and a tie. That same guy noticed th at he was wearing a shirt inside his coat. Gardner commented, " I am wearing a shirt because this is my last day of internship." The guy replied, "Well you will have to wear that shirt again tomorrow because tomorrow is your first day of work." Out of 20 interns, only 1 person is hired by the company and a homeless man did it.
SO guys, what's your favorite scene in the movie?

My favorite scene is where Gardner tells his son "if you have a dream go for it!" Despite all he went through, he still cared for and looked after his son as best he could and gave him good advice. A very uplifting movie.

I liked the part when Will Smith had to put up a brave front about the realities of life and start a make believe story for his boy while on the train station where they had to sleep in the restroom after. I felt his need to create a better world for his kid. That scene really moved me to tears. I admire his strength and zest for life. Anyone in his shoes would have broken down with all the difficult things he had to go through to survive. But being a parent myself, I would have done the same thing to make things beautiful for my kids.
I watched this film on DVD with my little boy and I had to explain to him why I kept crying. I have never said too many prayers my whole life. After watching the film, I prayed a lot. I thank God for all the wonderful blessings he has given me and my kids. I apologized for questioning Him why I had to go through life the way I did. When infact, there are people who never had the priviledges He has showered me.
It's a great film that really touches the soul.
