Imitation is the BEST form of flattery, don't you agree?

I have always heard that imitation is the best form of flattery. I had the chance with in the past few months to have just that happen. And to me, it was a heartwarming experience that made me swell with pride. My oldest daughter who is 9 has recently taken to playing with her baby dolls again...doll stroller, diapers, baby clothes, the whole 9 yard. She hadn't really played with them in quite sometime and I was contemplating whether to pass them on to another child or not. I figure it had something to do with having a baby sister. One evening as I was finishing up nursing the baby, my oldest daughter came out to the living room and sat on the loveseat next to the chair I was sitting in with one of her baby dolls. She was holding it and rocking it and then it was pretend crying. She then asked her baby if she was hungry...I am assuming the baby answered yes because she said, ok, then mommy will feed you. The next thing I know, my daughter is lifting her shirt ever so discretly and told me, 'I am feeding MY baby just like you do, mommy...' I was just so stunned...I didn't think that I made that much of an impression on my daughter but its obvious I did and what a wonderful thing to instill in a child. If I didn't understand it before, I did at this point--children learn by example. Mere words could not even begin to express my feeling of emotion. Ok...its your turn....tell me, what have you seen YOUR child(ren) do to imitate YOU? I would love to hear all about it.

I had always heard that but until my daughter did this, I had no idea how true it was. Thanks for responding :0)

LOL, my son, when he was 3 and just got a new baby brother, did the same thing with a doll he had. ( I wont even get into boys having dolls...) anyway, he was in the bath tub and he said "lookie mommy... Im feeding my baby boobie too" I then did have to tell him that only mommies make milk to feed babies, but he could still pretend!

Oh how precious. One of those moments you wish you had a camera to capture the moment. Incidently, my oldest who is now 15, wanted play dishes and food for xmas one year. Santa did bring it--reluctantly LOL Thanks for repsonding--I gave you a +
