I'm a Naruto anime fanatic and watching the ninja skills shown in the anime I can't help but be amazed and wonder if ninjas do really exist in today's world? Yes, we've seen ninjas featured in movies, but are these hidden ninja villages for real?

I agree with pidgey,Ninjas as well as Samurais are all part of Japanese history, particularly feudal Japan. As far as I know, I haven't heard of Chinese Ninjas. Try watching Samurai X, it's more closely patterned after the Japanese history, I'm not Japanese but I love Japanese anime. In Samurai X, there's an episode where Himura Kenshin fought one of the Oniwaban's (ninjas) Aoshi, well that episode shows that indeed ninjas are Japanese and not Chinese. Well, maybe in modern times, Chinese may have learned of becoming a ninja but I do believe that real ninjas originate from Japan.

Yes! its true that ninjas do exist. In Japan, ninjas are being trained as assassins, or sometimes as bodyguards. also in naruto, others pay their village to acquire ninjas as escorts, or assassins.

Are you Japanese? I'm Filipino, I wish we had ninjas here to ward off the bad elements in the society, what we have here are vigilantes who sometimes turn out to be the bad guys in the end.

Adding up, missed your last question. in real life, ninjas are trained in "secret" while in naruto in "Hidden Villages".

Ninjas do exist in some part today, all though they may not peform the same functions they originated from. The fighting style of ninjistu is still practiced. I should know ive been doing it for 9 years. There are also more secluded societies that teach ninjitsu but branch off into shadow arts ( stealth fighting) which would be closer to the original means of the "ninja"
Im sure there are even deeper nore secluded sects that still are ninja assasins for hire, technically there are assasins in the world, im sure some of them know ninjistu shadow style fighting and applications, so i guess you could say there are still true blue ninjas out there today.
