*bounces around happily at this excuse*
Pagan is actually an umbrella word used to describe a category of religions, not just one religion. There are many religions that could be called "Pagan", including modern reconstructions of the religions of the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Norse, Celts, and many other belief systems. It also includes newer religions like Wicca, which takes concepts from many of these sources but is really its own religion.
Because "Paganism" is really just a religious category, and not really one religion, it's hard to say that all Pagans believe any one thing. However, there are certain elements that many (not all) Pagan religions have in common:
Reverance for and protection of the earth
Belief in some form of spirit world
Belief in multiple deities (polytheism)
Ritualistic practice
Celebrations that mark the turning of seasons
The modern incarnation of many of these religions is usually also pretty focused on personal spirituality over doctrine.

Glad that I could help!
I don't know everything, but I have been studying this particular topic for a long time. My great-grandmother first started teaching me ancient Celtic beliefs when I was four years old, and I've studied many religions since then, especially the Pagan ones. So I'd say I've been studying 22 years now. =)

I'm interested so i answer your post. From what i understand paganism is the religion of ancient civilizations using the sun,the star, the moon or powerful animals as idols or god.The Egyptians use snake as god.The Babylonians use other animals and so are the Romans. They are called pagan by historians because they don't have a strong foundation to support their belief in their own god.
