For the past three days, my one-year old son had fever to as high as 40, now the fever is gone but rashes started appearing all over his face down to his body, he is so restless and cries all the time, he can't speak very well yet so I don't really understand if he feels pain, I just suppose he does coz he cries a lot and wants to be carried all the time. Anybody here knows what this illness is. I tried to bring him to a pediatrician but I changed my mind when his temperature normalized. Would these rashes just fade away? For how long? Is this something serious?

It sounds like Roseoli (Not sure how to spell but spell the way I pronounced it) which is quite common in small children. They first run a high fever and then after the fever breaks the child develops a rash. I would encourage you to call the pediatrician still as it could be something else. Not sure if it's a serious thing my daughter's pediatrician didn't seem to be all that concerned last year when my daughter had it. I'm not familiar with measles and chicken pox as my children never had those due to having their immunizations. Hope that helps some! :)

it is really hard to say. I suggest you take him to the doctors though, if there was something wrong, you would feel horrible if you waited. Also, they may have some kind of medicine they can prescribe that may make him less miserable. GOod luck!

The best thing you can do is to bring your child to the pediatrician.

Please take him to a pediatrician as soon as possible. One of my friend's son got fever and rashes recently. When they took him to the emergency, they were told it is chicken pox.don;t get me wrong,I am not trying to scare you but it is always gpod to be careful with kids.He is not feeling very well, which is why he cries all the time and wants to be carried.Sometimes children get rashes with high fever too.But it is better not to come to your own conclusions and take him to his pediatrician soon as you possibly can.
