Second Life- What do you think?

Just had a brief (very) wander around Second Life, at the tutorial stage. First thing that happened was this redhead wearing lingerie, which was a little embarrassing as I didn't know how to communicate, then some lady with a single letter vocabulary, as far as I could tell, or a typo. Then a little interlude with the map, and teleported into a dance club, or something like.
Any Second Lifers around? Opinions, advice, moral urgings...?

Second Life is a virtual site, where you have 3D avatars. You can buy virtual land, meet people, run businesses. Some lady in Germany has 50 people working for her in China running her business in Second Life. She's a virtual property developer, apparently she's become a millionaire selling virtual estates to people.
You can buy land, attend dance clubs, buy clothes for your avatar... it really is, in some ways, a virtual "life". There's a lot to learn, though, and I'm still on the tutorial stage. I've learned to walk, and to navigate, a bit. You can even fly, or teleport, around Second Life.
The graphics are a bit Sims-ish on the basic (free) level, but they get really complex. You get all the tools to build your own house, etc. It's really pretty impressive, as an idea. You even get your own intellectual property rights, subject to the terms of use, naturally. Second Life retains the right to handle abusers, and they've been hacked a few times, probably an irresistible target.
On the whole, good, game-level graphics, pretty quick download, on broadband, and free membership. You need to read the terms and options for membership. I'm only doing basic membership at the moment, wanted to check it out before committing to anything.
