Whats the longest anyone has ever dated?

I have been in a relationship for 8 years now. We have never been engaged, but we have two children. We have never even brought it up to eachother. Just wondering if anyone thinks theres something wrong with us or is this common

I am currently in a a 2 year relationship... i got with my beau since just before i turned 17 and i turn 19 in a couple of months... we are engaged but my partners sister and boyfriend have been together 13 years and have a beautiful child... the engagement thing has never been mentioned between them either... i dont think there is anything wrong with not getting engaged or married... it is more common nowadays to have a happy relationship without marriage... the saying here nowadays is that marriage ruins a good relationship and to be honest i agree... like i said we are engaged but i am in no rush to get married... i dont want to ruin what we have... we already live together and have a wonderful relationship... what is a piece of paper and a ring at the end of the day?? they are just those things... nothing more... so i dont think there is anything wrong with you and your partner it is very common in a present world for long term relationships with no marriage... they tend to last alot longer than those with marriage involved

Yours is an unofficial marriage, not dating. You have both refrained from formalising your relationship probably out of being unsure of your future together. In the interest of the children that are involved in the relationship, I think you should consider making the marriage a little more formal.
