Caffeine is stimulant that is found in many foods and beverages such as coffee, tea, cocoa, chocolate, and soft drinks. And this may provide you with your morning boost but is it ok to intake caffeine during prenancy? is it safe for the baby?

I dont like coffee or any kind of soda or aerated drinks. My only addiction to caffeine is 2 cups of tea everyday and that did me no harm during pregnancy. I had tea throughout pregnancy and dont think it made any difference.

I tried to give it up during pregnancy. Actually, I did quit a couple of times for a few weeks. But I had such a hard time with it, that I ended up just limiting it. I couldn't drink plain water because the taste got to me, and diet pop was the only thing I could really stomach, other than chocolate milk. I did stick with diet, and caffiene free when possible. It was better for me personally to have a little bit. DS had no problems and is just fine.

Don't drink caffeine if you can help it. According to the books and doctors I have talked to. We can have 12oz of caffeine a day. But that is IF you really need it. Caffeine affects the baby 3 times more than it would affect us. I was never a big coffee drinker, but I did drink soda. I quit cold turkey, even though the headaches sucked for a bit. I may have a soda once a week at the most, but usually I try for decaffinated if possible. Some people I know drank Mountain Dew, coffee and energy drinks--they said no effects on their child occured. I guess, why chance it?

Caffine is fine if you keep it too a minamum. Exceccive can cause prematurity, small babys and even worse miscarrige.
