I am currently taking ActosplusMetformin for my diabetes. I feel sick all the time. I was wondering if anyone else is on this medication and how long it took for the medicine to start working and what, if any, side effects you had.
I take my first pill in the morning and within a couple of hours I feel so sick to my stomach that I just want to curl up and die. A few hours later I feel fine. But I have to take my second pill at lunch time and it starts all over again. And then again at dinner when I take my third pill. I told my doctor what was going on and she said to stick with the meds for at least the next 2 months to see if I get used to it and how well it helps the diabetes. I just dont know if I can take this for another 2 months.
If anyone has any experience with this med or any other oral meds, I would really like your thoughts on the subject. Maybe there is something else out there I could be using since the Actosplus Metformin is making me so sick.

I am taking metformin and slowing it down, doctors said I was diabetic too but anyway I have managed to heal it not because of the medicines it will really make you see overtime it depends if you can handle it(bodily resistance) I cured myself of sickness using my herbs. I don't know if it works for all but for me it does. not bad for someone who was admitted to intensive care last dec.29 but now I am stronger than I was years ago

Good for you! I love it when I hear people tell me how much they have improved. I wish there was a cure for diabetes. My whole family is peppered with people who suffer from it. I am doing all I can to try and get it as under control as possible and live as healthy as possible. I am so glad that you are doing better. :)

Well for my diabeties I take diaformin, how strong is your medication as for me mine is 500, what I did I did self medication and reduced my medication and it worked fine just when you do this watch what you are eating and drinking and this will help a lot. As mine went down from 19 to 7 and now the doctor does not need to see me for 6 months he is so happy with my sugar level results.

I did better with Avandia than with this ActosplusMetformin. I sometimes think the meds make me have a harder time trying to control the diabetes. I was doing fine with just diet and excercise, but my sugars had gone up a little bit and so the doctor put me on this med and now, I seem to have no control over the disease. I have an appt to go back next month and I am just going to tell her I need something else.

My husband was recently diagnosed with diabetes, they put him on the same medication that you are taking....It does not make him sick, but it is not keeping his blood sugar down either....I think you should go back to your doctor and explain to him/her your problem...It is nothing any worse than being sick to your stomach..all the time. They have different medications for this and they need to try you on other types until they find the one that works for you..Itis not normal to feel sick all the time..medications are suppose to make you feel better and control the problem .not cause you to be sick all the time...My husband is going back to the doctor to get another type of medication because this one is not keeping his sugar under control...

I agree, I dont think this medication is working for me either. I cannot keep my sugars where they need to be. This morning I checked my fasting level and it was 269! I checked it three times on three meters and I got 269, 267, and 264. So I know that the meds aren't working for me at this time. I have been on them almost a month, shouldn't they be working by now??

The Mylot user Carolee (kaufield) has been pretty sick from her diabetic medications too. She is throwing up a lot and has lost 100 pounds I think. Her doctor just recently changed her medication...and she is hopeful that the pain and sickness will cease. Maybe you can look for her discussions and contact her?
