If You Had a Choice...

Would you choose how and when you died? I know it seems like a silly question, but let me tell you why I ask...
I have a huge fear of HOW I die. I am so afraid of pain that it's ridiculous. Everytime I watch a movie or hear about a death, I always feel the pain. Not sure why...I've gotten used to it, but sometimes it really bothers me. The worst is drowning. I love the movie Poseidon...but everytime it gets to the part where he drowns trying to turn off the propellers, I feel like I wanna choke. Not to mention, I have a fear of suffocation. I'm also a bit claustrophobic.
Now i know that no one's going to say, well I choose to die tomorrow at 5 pm during a car wreck. lol. I wouldn't believe them if they did.
Of course most of us want to live as long as possible.
But if I had a choice...I would at least make it as painless as possible. I always said, even as a small child, when I die, I hope it's peasefully in my sleep.

yeah.. peacefully in your sleep is the best choice... cause you dont suffer and dont realize...
And when?...I ´d prefer to die when I´m not able to take care of myself... with the aim of living until I haven´t a good standard of living...
And... hahah its strange but I´ve always had the wish of live to see the end of the world,.. When I was old =)...
But , obviously,.. its a big coincidence...^^
Regards!^^

It is not at all a silly question, I would say it is something that most people think about. If I could choose how I want to die I would choose the easier way: in my sleep. If I could choose when I want to die I would choose again the easier way: I don't want to know.
Even if I knew that I will die at 2042, April the 15th, that is far away from now, I think that until then I will everyday count when is that day, how many years I have, that I don't have enough time to do everything that I want etc. and with this way I would be unhappy and I couldn't live a nice and peasefull life. So, I prefer not to know, so I can be relaxed and happy.

hmm.. i don't really want to die right now. i mean, there's a lot of things that i really want to do more. but if my deathday would come, i want to die while sleeping. i mean, i want to die peacefully. :) I mean who doesn't? for me it's the best "way of dying." You know, no broken bones or whatever.

I'm the type of person that wouldn't want to know when or how I'm going to die. So, if someone came up to me claiming to have that knowledge and being a reliable source somehow, I would decline that information. I don't want to know. All I can do is hope for the best.

I don't think it's a silly question! I have often thought about this, and pain scares me really bad as well. If I had the choice, I would want to die in my husband's arms in my sleep, when we are old and after we live to see our grandchildren. I would love to just be able to go peacefully. It's not up to me, though, it is ultimately up to God! I just have to place my trust in Him and realize that He does have plans for me, and that He will be with me no matter what happens.

I do know how I hope I will die. In my sleep. I can't really answer as to when. I just want to live as long as God wants me here. He will take me Home when my time comes.

You really need to watch what you put on paper. Did you know that fear kills faster than a speeding bullet? I think mediation would help you out a bunch and some books on controlling thought. Every thought, releases an action and joy and sufftering are its fruit.

I don't think that this is a silly question at all. It is a fact of life, and one of the scariest too in my opinion.
Only God knows the answer to this, but I am hoping that it will be when I am old and have lived a long and wonderful life with my family and friends.
I also hope that I am not alone, that would be very scary for me.

I don't think I could actually choose how and when I die, but I know I want to be old and I don't want to outlive my children. I don't think I could handle it. I fear dying naked. I know its silly but I'm a modest person. I also would like to have at least 1 days notice so I could say goodbye and make things right with everyone. I fear that I'll go to bed angry or will have said hurtful things to someone and not be able to take it back, so I don't think I'd want to die in my sleep.

I don;t think it's strange. I think most people are afraid of how theyre going to die. Chances are you will not be murdered so you won't be strangled or choke or be suffocated so try not to worry about that. Chances are, and I don't mean to scare you that you will die in either an accident (car crash) which would be QUICK, or that you would die of a disease which may or may not be quick but which you would be made as comfortable as possible by doctors and nurses. You could die of a heart attack which is also quick but Ii'v heard it's also painful, or you could die in your sleep, which is the way, I and most of us I'm sure would choose to go.
