my kids can watch everything on the disney channel. on nickelodeon, anything in the morning and early afternoon, especially when it is still nick jr. When it gets to teenick (?)I make sure I screen the shows. there's a LOT out there that is SO not child friendly! for Cartoon Network, it's 50-50. Your best bet as a parent is to watch the shows with your kids. That's the only way you'll know the content and how the kids react to the show, whether it is favorable or not. By doing this, the kids can tell whether certain shows are bad for them or not. And they're usually right :)

DS is 15 months and really only watches Sesame Street. I prefer PBS for him, and don't like the idea of him watching all the commercial cartoons when he's older. There's too much garbage out there. I'd rather him read a book or just play. He likes both of those, so we're off on a good start.

I agree with Fluffyfrog that adult cartoons should be left ot adults to watch not children. My kids watch PBS and Disny Channel. They like to watch Dora,Backyardigans,Wiggles,Barney,Bob the Builder,Blues Clues,Sesame Street,Thomas the Train,Jay Jay the Jet plane,Veggie tales,Steawberry Shortcake.Because I feel they have more better stuff for kids to learn and it is appropiate for children.I let my son watch Sponge Bon Square Pants once in awhile. But I feel for a kids his age (he is almost 3)that it has no educational value.Maybe if they get older it might be more its funnier than educational.

My daughter watches Sesame Street and Barney. She watches them on DVDs. She doesn't watch TV so she is not exposed to some non-sense commercials. Watching her two favorite children's movies/programs helps her learn lots of things amazingly fast.

i think sponge-bob is ok but south park i think is a more mature cartoon. I dont think your being strict you just dont want your kids to watch cartoons that use cuss words.
