How did you come about having your name? Is it a family name? Were you named after anyone? Tell us!
Me? My mother and father were batting around two different names for me and when the pediatrician came in for the first baby exam the morning after birth, he said, "How about...." and the rest is history! So I was named by my pediatrician!

That is so funny!
My mom was going to name me Charlene or Charlotte after my Grandpa Charles. She really thought I was going to be a boy first and wanted to name me Timothy.
Then she heard a song on the radio by the Cufflinks and named me Tracie. The bad thing is that everyone spells it with a "y". Even my aunts and uncles and cousins and step-siblings spell it wrong.

My name has two parts to it. It is the word Ram and Narayanan. Both these words are Hindu gods, so my name is directly derived from their names. I guess that because my name is so holy, I need to collect some fees from people who utter it and earn good deed for taking God's name :)
Cheers!
Ram

My mom and dad wanted to name me "Antoinette" since my dad's name is Anthony. Thank goodness my mom was watching an episode of CHiPS and saw the name of an actress that she ended up really, really liking. So, I was named after an actress from CHiPS. *LoL*

My mom wanted to name me Judy. But I already had 3 Aunt Judy's. So she switched it a little and named me Jodi.

When my mother was about to give birth, my father was on duty and he did not have the time to bring my mother to the hospital. my mother went alone, and by the end of the day, she gave birth. My father arrived 3 hours after and asked my mother my name. My mother replied, "I named him after you." and that's it!

I was named after Melissa Sue Anderson who played Mary on Little House on the Prairie. The oldest sister. she went on to do more things but honestly my mom was hooked on that show when she was pregnant with me and that is how i got my name Melissa Sue.

We have a long line of Allyson's in our family. In a way I hope one of my son's carries on the tradition since I could not . It would have been like that Johnny Cash song about a boy named SUE. I just could not name a boy Allyson or anything that resembled that.

I was actually named after Princess Diana. I think my mom always thought of that woman as a very beautiful person within. So she ended up naming me after her. Which I find to quite honestly be an honor. I am named after someone who truly made a difference in this world. Who had such a beautiful heart & soul. Someone I look up to.
So even though it may have not been a so called "family" name it truly is very comforting to know that I was named after someone truly so beautiful who had made a difference when they we're still here on this earth.
I've also been told by other relatives that I was named after my auntie. That my mom was influenced both by my aunts name, but also Princess Diana. She always has told me though that she had named me after Princess Diana.
So I guess I will never know. Either way I like the thought of being named after someone like 'Princess Diana.' I honestly do feel that it is such an honor. It's someone to look up to in away as I know I would love to make a difference in the world just like she had! . .
Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

Kinda..
I'm the baby of 5 children and all of my older siblings have names starting with the letter "D". So they were trying to stick with that theme when choosing my name.
My mom was a big Paul Anka fan (singer from the late 60s early 70s) and he had a song that she loved called "Diana".
That is how I ended up with my name.

My first name wasnt named from anyone else. But my middle name Ann, came from my mother, who got the name because of her mother's name. I am sure my great grandmother's middle name was also Ann.

The story I heard about my name was that when I was born my parents hadn't picked a name yet. They were listening to the radio or tv and there was news about a hurricane coming in. They liked the name of the hurricane and I was named after it. Someday I'll have to ask where that hurricane hit and how much damage it did.

As a matter of fact, yes I am...
my grandfather and my father both had the same name that I do, and that makes me the third. People always say it's so distinguished when you say my name with "the third," but I don't really think so. It's kinda cool being the third though.
