Do you collect rainwater for re-use?

I had the water from my well tested last year because we had some unexpected sickness and then death in some of our farm animals. It turns out that our well is contaminated with coliform bacteria and the water is what was causing the problems in my animals. So my husband got the bright idea to get a couple of rain barrels and set them up under the eave of our house to collect the rain to re-use for drinking water for our animals. Does anybody out there collect rain water too? If so, do you have a "professional" system or did you set something up yourselves? I kind of feel like I have stepped back in time a bit having to bucket water out of the barrel to give to my goats but I can live with it!

hi,friend,we are less active in harvesting rain water for different purposes. We have sufficient rains and most of the water going to sea only lack of catchment area.People also waste much water. Now our govt. encouraging by giving subsidies to preserve rain water in turn increase ground water. We have no good technology to catch rain water and use for different purposes.

I would suggest you to collect rainwater with buckets and large vessels that are available and you can use this rainwater collected to wash the floors and for cleaning vehicles and for plants.

I think it is a good idea to save rainwater. I think the rainwater harvesting all system cost money, but we can save some water with the buckets and barrels that we have and this can be used to washing the floors and also can be used for other purposes. I will try to save the rainwater as far as possible.
