Good Morning every one this is the paper quilling I keep going on and on about, I made several necklaces for a Yard sale, and not one seemed interested, as well I made a chess board, it contained 100 of the medallions. 64 for the chess board the color was dark green and light silver gray, the other 36 medallions were used to go around the 64, The whole works was sandwiched between two sheets of Plexiglas, and then 4 wholes were drilled in the corners and screws with caps were put through to keep every thing to gether and they also made little legs, The end result was beautiful, and even if I say so my self, I am very proud of the chess set and it was donated to the Alzheimer's and Dementia Society for their charity auction, I also designed the chess pieces and made them with the paper quilling , Sort of a one of in the chess world,

they are awesome Robin , do you cut the quilling strips yourself /, I have often thought about trying it with the waste from the shredder , you could make pretty good quilling strips with that or even flattened straws , i used to always love doing things like that but never tried quilling , My hand won't let me now but I still like making my cards . well done you . xx

Hi Weemam, Yes I do use a shredder to cut my paper, I tried to cut it by hand but I couldn't keep it 1/4 inch as needed, Now my problem is all the shredders are cross cut and crinkle. So I will have to take car of my shredder, one medallion takes approximately 1/2 of a sheet 81/2 by 11 paper. so I use a lot of paper, I have a goodly supply of black dark blue and purple, so I am doing OK.

Those are so beautiful. I wish I had the talent to do that. I can't believe that people weren't interested in them. Silly goofs! Do you have a picture of the chess board by any chance? I would love to see what it looked like. I'll bet it was amazing.

Hi Katlady, sorry the darn thing is still on tour, it is seeing more of the world than I ever will LOL. Actually this is not difficult, time consuming very much. It took me approximately 100 hours to do the chess board in total. but well worth the effort, I also thought about trying Ebay but haven't a clue how to go about it, as well the customers would have a choice of about 12 different colors so I would have to make them wait a month before I could get it made and shipped. not to many people are willing to do that. But I still it would make a great special gift or a presentation gift for some one, It is just getting it out there.

wow that is very good, my problem is that I have never been good with my hands, but I am great with my brain. My hobby is writing and playing scrabble, I play scrabble by email continuously and I just love it.

Hi Robin, What a talented lady you are. They are so beautiful. I can only imagine how nice the Chess Set must be. I would think that it would be very tedious and time consuming to make such lovely and delicate pieces. Have you ever set up at a craft show or fair. I have found that most people who attend these events seem to appriciate handicrafted items a lot more than just the general public. You could even give demonstrstion on quilling there. I would think that it should attract a lot of people since it isn't a very common craft at least not around where I live.

Thanks for the complement, actually it is not difficult, finding the dark paper, and working out the design was what was a bit hard, but when the all together came together it was clear sailing, and I know it sounds funny but I saw the total chess set in my head way be for it be came a reality I came across a killer deal on black periwinkle blue and beautiful purple, I have about 2500 sheets of them so bring it on. and the only costly part is the Plexiglas it cost about $23.00 other than that I have no cost except my time and I work real cheap.
